Week #6 ends at 25.4%, a new milestone and over a quarter of the way to the goal :D Still working through the chocolate I was gifted at Easter, but popcorn is back on the roster.

Winner will chosen from posts up to #210.

Tallima: From this thread, I decided to get an exercise bike. I'm riding most days at least 30 minutes and about half of days 90 minutes. It's knocking weight off me fast. And I thought I had plateaued.
That's great to hear. Hope it all goes well! :)

GR00T: Xyem, I'm impressed with your commitment to this endeavor, and have to tell you, you've helped motivate my wife and me. We've started a regimen of regular exercise (nothing overly intense, just making sure we get at least 10,000 steps per day, part of which must be a walk outside) and have cut back on the food intake (mostly the ''this stuff tastes great, but it's full of empty calories" kind) as well as reducing the alcohol intake. Only into week two, but it's going well and there is a reduction in the amount of blubber I'm sporting. :)
Really glad to hear this thread is helping others get motivated to achieve their goals. A very pleasant surprise. Keep it up!

Some steady progress you are making!!
Kudos!!
Indeed! 25% in 6 weeks is an extremely good result!
Excellent <3
Not in, but glad to see you still around!
I'm seriously impressed that you've made so much steady progress every week. Well done, xyem. Barely over a month and you're already a quarter of the way to your target. Of course, I have no idea how ambitious your target was, but still... :)

Do you feel any different from when you started?
I started going up and down the stairs as much as possible at work, instead of using the elevator. It seems ok so far :D
My friend says VR gaming is better than sitting in a chair or on a couch. Problem is the price tag is not for people who have problems amassing €2500 for the basics. I tried a game where you need to smash some coloured thingies that fly towards you and was worn out after ten minutes. Playing that must build muscles and more muscles need more energy which results in smaller waist.

Fairfox: do you find this threadie you made helps you keep focus, or is it moar just here as an uuuh accompaniment?
I do get concerned when it looks like there won't be any winners for the week and it does help my resolve to, say, not have any dessert to try and ensure that won't happen.

Huh? How would there be no winners? And what does your dessert have to do with it?
(Assuming joke, but didn't get it if so.)

There are only winners drawn on weeks where I set a new "best" weight, which I'm currently doing through intake management (rather than exercise). Not eating dessert == less intake.

Fairfox: that dont make me happy.

dont go starvin' yourself or general lee makin' yourself unhappy 'coz you feel you owe random forum peeps

stay well an' in gud mind 'n' body x
The whole way I'm going about this is so that I don't feel unhappy while doing it. Some people try to do weight loss by doing things they don't enjoy, setting lofty goals and the like. Some can be very motivated by that, sure, but others copy that approach and set themselves up to fail.

I don't starve myself, I had a think about my eating habits and set up a system where I could follow it and not be bothered by the changes. Best example of this is adding popcorn to my work lunchbox. This is literally just to prevent me seeking out other, more unhealthy snacks when my resolve is low (like when dealing with our crap computer systems). There's no point just being "I just won't have anything" because I know I will either be unhappy for half the day or just give in. Instead, I grab a handful of popcorn, sit back and munch.

Motivation from this thread comes from the gain in the short-term. I really enjoy making people's day when they get chosen to be winner and I don't have to wait months for it. I can either enjoy some dessert for 10 minutes or in a couple of days, make someone happy. Makes it much easier to feel like I don't really want that dessert!

Some days though, just can't say no to that apple strudel.. yumyum.

And seeing the comments about how my progress has motivated others to action? That was a very unexpected, but fantastic outcome from this :D
Strudel doesn't count as cheating. You can't expect someone to resist strudel.

Ah, didn't know / forgot that first part. Now it makes sense.

As for the next message, yep, very healthy attitude!
