Their bank is in Cyprus if not mistaken. Almost every american bank assumes they are fraudulent. My point is, even though USA is not the only nation to deal with. It is more than likely the most capital spending to GOG. Of which they tend to ignore and give little to no care to what their customers want. Even when they are the 2nd most popular gaming retailer in the world. No other game retailer can make their own titles. Its that simple. They don't give a sh!t.

It boils down to being lucky to not have problems. Because they don't fix what is broken. Blaming covid is a bullsh!t lie. They don't want to invest more money in hiring people to deal with the customers they have. But the irony is , that in not hiring more people, they actually lose more money, by customers giving up on GOG altogether. Its literally every day we have forum rants about this.

It's not that they 'don't like' GOG. That makes it sound like they are making a decision based on their personal feelings. But no, they aren't. Rather, it's just purely 100% business.

Most banks, like most people in general, have no idea what GOG is. So when they see a charge from a strange-sounding company name which is obscure and little known, it's only natural that they assume it's a fishy transaction.

It's not because they have any ill will towards GOG or anything like that. Anyone else in their shoes would naturally tend towards doing the same thing.

Try adding funds to your GOG wallet. If that works, use wallet funds to pay for your order.

Yes, my support response time has been 5 weeks for the most part. Be sure to reply to your support ticket and mention which games you intend to buy. I've heard of someone who was offered the discounts that expired while waiting for support.

The support has a lot of requests, especially during bigger sales. I suggest patience. You can also try to reply to automated response message that you probably received and try to speed things up this way, as mentioned above. Looks like delegating some of the GOG community team to support tickets didn't make a huge change unfortunately (at least for now). :(

I would think they don't bother blocking weird sounding companies. Chargebacks against GOG from other bank customers are more likely reason in my opinion. Bad people copying credit cards and using them to pay for games on GOG and reselling the keys to launder the money. Card owner notices the charges, demands and gets chargeback from the bank and naturally those banks are less likely to allow transactions here for other people.

What’s really frustrating here is that I have been thinking for a full year that the issue was with my bank (this is what the error message displayed by GOG says, but said message is wrong) and spent a lot of time trying to fix this with several different support teams… But it turns out all of this time and energy was wasted, and I now need to start again with GOG support.

I wasn't referring to the bot actually. What I meant was the automated response you get on your e-mail when you open a support ticket.

EDIT2: I was not entirely correct, as you can contact the card issuer and the SSA themselves, duh! Stress doesn't work well with critical thinking skills sometimes!

Yeah, all I got was a chatbot, but I gave it my email address, I hope it's a real person and not some worthless bot!

I was not completely correct, and you're right, as you can contact the card issuer itself, in my case it's direct express, I am calling them now, though due to high volumes of calls I'm having a crappy time getting through, also you can contact the SSA directly as well!

Oh, well I don't know how the banks 'feel' about gog, I just mean in general they don't like gog and this is a common issue with them. Banks don't like overseas transactions for the most part.
