TentacleMayor: OOPS, SOMETHING WENT WRONG.
Please try again.

Is this the message everyone is getting?
avatar
zeogold: Yes. That's why the thread is here. Read the original post, please.
OP does not say the exact message, just wanted to make sure I'm not running into a different error with a different cause.
Getting somewhere now:

YOUR ACCOUNTS ARE BEING CONNECTED
Due to exceedingly high demand this may take up to several days, please check back later. Thank you for your patience.

At last!

Yeah, that's the same message i get now.
The question is : Will we be lucky to get the connection done in time. As far as i could see, we have only 5 days left to claim the games.
And do we have to leave the window open until the connection is established ?
ONLY reason I'm doing this link is for the game connection. There will be problems if this ends up with people unable to link games because of the poorly thought out time line.

IF there was going to be a limit to the number of people who can link per day, maybe this should have been started prior to the countdown of game link time.

The API limit is something GOG should have known about and foreseen as a problem, rather then causing a mass panic due to a limited time offer that may or may not be extended due to problems that users have ZERO control over.

How long did you need to to wait for the connection to take place?
nvm

No, you can close the window, and when you go to GOG connect again you'll get the spinning wheel and "this will take days" message straight away. The process is being done by GOG servers in the background. You can check it before closing your window by opening the page in another browser, device or GOG Galaxy.

For me it was a few hours before going to sleep, then I closed everything, and this morning when I re-opened the page my accounts were connected.

Now my problem is this thing says no eligible games found, which is false, and after pressing "refresh" a couple of times and clicking in the thumbnail of one of the games included in the promo the "refresh" button is gone... :-(

Edit: ok, now if I enter the connect page I get this message again: "Looking for eligible games. Due to exceedingly high demand this may take up to several days, please check back later. Thank you for your patience." Oh well... Let's be patient then.

The question is now did those games get added to your library?

I saw the same thing but for 4 games. I clicked "added games" and it went back to "Please wait several day due blah blah blah" message.
I saw this thread first when I checked the forums to see what was up with the "it may take several days" message, so thanks for the explanation :)

I wonder what the actual terms of the deal are for GOG. Obviously they're trying to attract primarily Steam gamers to try out GOG and maybe eventually start buying more games on GOG, so I wonder if GOG gets any money from any of the games that are connected from Steam.

I usually buy games on GOG instead of Steam unless I think the game is only on Steam and/or Steam has a significant sale, so I don't really have that many games to activate through this process (I already own most of the games on the list on both services, or only on GOG).

But this might affect my future purchases. If Steam and GOG have the same (or very similar) prices on a game that's available for connection, then it would make more sense to buy the Steam version and then activate it here. I've had my eye on The Witness for awhile and was thinking of getting it, and then I saw this connection thing so now I'm thinking it makes more sense to get the Steam version. But I love GOG so I don't want to do that if they won't be getting any money when I connect it.

zeogold: Um....it's a 5 DAY deadline, not 5 HOUR. Why not just wait a day or two?
avatar
Goblox: Because in a day or two I could potentially miss out again, giving me even less time to try. I'm at the computer doing something else, why not continue to try now and secure my games early? The flaw isn't in my logic but in the logic of the process. A queue would solve a lot of problems.
That's a good idea :) It might not be possible depending on what deal they have with the game publishers, but it would be awesome if we got a confirmation message from the site that we connected our accounts in time and we'll get the games whenever the connection is able to go through. Or if they announce that the 5-day limit is for signing up to connect rather than when the account actually gets connected. That way people wouldn't keep spamming refresh because they know they won't lose out on the games as long as they initiated the connection in time.
I just got the list of eligible games and confirmed to add them but they haven't been added to my library and I get the message:

"ACCOUNTS CONNECTED

Looking for eligible games. Due to exceedingly high demand this may take up to several days, please check back later. Thank you for your patience."

Will it just take a while or did something go wrong?

Did you seriously not read what you just quoted? It says it may take a while, so...why would you assume otherwise?
