No, I think you're thinking of the invention of the Tesla coil.

Danielx64: Well I will try in a few hours
Try this advice I give everybody:
Wait at least 24 hours. This should hopefully be enough time for a good majority of the large flood of people to get their accounts connected.

You are getting some games for free. =) You can probably afford to wait a day or two. Come on!

Heh, now watch EVERYONE wait 24 hours and then come back to try again all at once.

I can understand why you're worried, but look, if this continues, GOG will probably extend the freebies. I don't think they'll neglect the cries and anguish of people who can't claim the prizes within the timeframe because of technical issues like this.

Yeah people really need to relax, I'm sure that if the demand is still high CD Projekt will probably extend it (as most groups do when a lot of people want in with this type of stuff)

The GOG side of servers is still good, and all we have to do is wait till the steam side is back up.

If you load the connect page and it says
"Oops something went wrong" wait an hour. This is an indication that they can't connect to the API.

Actually wait a lot longer, because when I first heard and tried... The steam api is 404'd.
So high chance that it's reached it's cap for the time and probably won't be back up for a few hours.

Chill, have a drink, a nap, play a game, watch anime ect ect

No need to blast it all, Valve will probably be waiting till the usual "peak hour" internet use time is over before they allow connections again.

Also, the formats for it that it sends is JSON, XML and VDF. Not a txt file. ;)

ANOTHER thing to add on, if people keep trying and trying when it isn't working on Valves end, they can terminate the service all together.

EDIT:
Also the amount limited to is around 100'000 per day and valve can approve for higher

Yes. That's why the thread is here. Read the original post, please.
I never understand why instead of a generic error message which encourages people to spam refresh they just don't implement some kind of queuing system? Is it so difficult to do or am I just a genius? Or did they really not think this would be immensely popular considering the limited time offer? Oh well *spams refresh* gotta get in before the 5 day deadline

Um....it's a 5 DAY deadline, not 5 HOUR. Why not just wait a day or two?

I feel there is a flaw in this entire process. I click on add account and it just pops up the "oops" message and times out. I read and understand the mechanics of why this happens but it still isn't a good practice to do it this way on the end user's side. If I could give it credentials so that it will try the credentials unattended on my secure machine I would walk away and feel confident it will at least do something. As it is since the process won't even start until it connects and then I get to put in my steam account it makes me less than confident this will work. It insures I and many other people try and baby sit the process, retrying over and over again to insure it works rather than letting it work unattended. Thus making it take longer as we just try and refresh it constantly. I mean honestly, I have steam and gog installed and connected on the same machine but they can't talk until I get a connection through this one API and it lets me manually login for approval. I feel like a decent work around would be for gog to just scan my hard drive for steam to get the process started or something.

Because in a day or two I could potentially miss out again, giving me even less time to try. I'm at the computer doing something else, why not continue to try now and secure my games early? The flaw isn't in my logic but in the logic of the process. A queue would solve a lot of problems.
