SirPrimalform: Prefer the non-remix soundtrack to be honest.

Can't remember whether CS+ includes the original versions or not. I know it lets you choose between the version you posted and a slightly stranger remix.

p.s. Any reason this post was flagged as a reply to my last post? Or just GOG's forum software freaking out as usual?
I'm not sure but Cave Story+ should let you choose between 3 soundtracks. Original, new and remastered.

Ah ok, that's good. :)

Apparently the strange remix ('new' I think) is from the Wii version, which is what CS+ is sort of a port of. I think the less strange remix ('remastered'?) was actually done for the 3DS version and patched into CS+.
What does Cave Story+ have that the original free game lacks? I'm just wondering, because I beat the original and so if I did, is it worth it to play this version?

From the Steam store page:
- Original (320x240) graphics and upgraded “HD” graphics (now you can play it risking only minor seizures)
- Remastered music as well as the original soundtrack
- Mix-and-match new/old artwork and music!
- Six new play modes (including Wind Fortress, Boss Rush and more!)
- Future content updates (not anymore I guess)

Well, I'd get it anyway just to support Pixel.

640x480 ain't HD. I know you put it in inverted commas, but come on! :P

I copy-pasted this from the page. I suppose they meant 'more defined' look in general, not just resolution.
Played the original version with english translation a few years ago, I got this as part of a HBundle but would buy again if it comes here just for the sake of having it in my GOG library :-)

It is a truly fantastic game, the soundtrack is amazing, and I love mixing and matching the visuals with soundtracks. I like to play the original visuals with the original soundtrack on one save file, the new HD visuals with the Re-mastered track on the other and the 3rd with the new visuals and new soundtrack.

I like not using the new soundtrack at all, ever.
"Cave Story is an incredible game that succeeds at telling a great story, providing fantastic run-and-gun gameplay with a huge world to explore, and it does so with a style and technique all its own.”

This reminds me, that I still need to play the + version since I have it from HumbleBundle.
I played the original version with the English translation patch back then.
What is different in the commercial version?

Cave Story+ has new modes, and new soundtracks and visuals. The original soundtrack and visuals are in the newer one, but you can also get the new "HD" visuals, and a "re-mastered" or "new" soundtrack as well.

Just listened to the remastered and new soundtracks and the original is far superior.
The higher video resolution is nice though.

Any new levels and bosses?

Is Hell level considered new?
