I love survival sims, games like Stranded Deep, Green Hell, The Long Dark, and similar ones, but on GOG, at most I found Project Zomboid and Don't Starve. Sure, there are also games like No Man's Sky, and some games that feature survival mechanics, like TES: Skyrim and Fallout 4, but when it comes to pure survival simulators, the selection is actually pretty limited.

Compare it to Steam, where you've not only got all of the aforementioned games, but a whole slew of others, both pure survival sims and zombie survival sims.

Just what is up with that? What's up with GOG's policies that these guys don't want to bring their games here?

You've played one festering zombie of a survival sim, you've played them all.

Outside of say, Lost In Blue/Survival Kids, I can't really think of a survival sim that's made me go, "Wow, I actually want to play that."

Or maybe I could flip the question and ask where all the non-combat flightsims are? Really, it's obvious that the GOG staff have a taste, and that taste is determined by spinning in a chair/centrifuge until vomit occurs, and then throwing darts within a centrifuge at random targets.

That's "the GOG policy" that probably keeps most of "these guys" from bringing their games here.

Plus some GOG related special features, when it comes to collecting your revenues made here.

Because "survival sims" suck, and are aggravating chores to play, and games are supposed to be fun & enjoyable.

The Long Dark was on GOG, but the publisher changed or something (?). GOG is DRM-free and they want DRM. Anyway The Planet Crafter is on GOG. The store page seems to be neglected as it's not early access anymore, though apparently the game itself is up to date. What's obvious is that you never have a single clue as to what you're talking about. No they don't, only a total moron would say that. What sucks are bad games. Some survival sims are bad, some aren't, just like any other game. Someone who isn't a mindless fool would know this.

You'd think that playing games like they are a checklist by only looking at the achievements would qualify as a chore ;-)

My suggested reasons, besides the drm-free (or openly/explicitly drm-free) issue:

* Not enough money to be made here (especially for the work required for the below)

* Required time and effort needed to port multiplayer to Galaxy

* Extra effort to update the game here (vs just having to update on Steam), or money reason above if updates slowed down but game is "old" / older now

Not actually necessary though...according to a post on the Steam forum, Planet Crafter on GOG has LAN multiplayer (not listed on the store page). It's mostly the money/DRM thing, same as all other games. As listed by others above, there is a selection of survival games here; I suspect percentage-wise it's not that different from other genres compared to Steam.

YES!

Having tried Kenshi, it requires a decent graphics card. It did not work on my laptop.

But even if it did, having later watched long play videos of it, puts me off. The game has serious logic problems.

1-Almost impossible to die, but arms and legs can be removed.
2-Super high technology.....but no firearms. Crossbows, but noslings or normal bows. No laser guns or pressure!
3-"Flock of Birds" chasing. Apparently when you or anything else runs away or gives chase. All life forms can read your mind to instantly change direction to match pace.
4-You can swim in it. You can eat food and mod it alcohol. But requiring water.....in a friggin desert......is intentionally not in game. Seriously....thats just stupid.
5-No matter what you add to the game, there is a reality bubble, that freezes everything outside of it. What that means, is; the entire game revolves around the player. No conflucts. No commerce. No crop growth. Its all bad western billboard buildings. Plus as far as I can tell, it has no plot of any kind to set astage of story. So you stop when you get bored I guess.

What a waste of 6 hours of watching crap >_>
