75-90% off Duke Nukem 1+2, Duke Nukem 3D, Balls of Steel, Manhattan Project.

The Duke. Men want to be him, women want to be with him. The manliest of men, the ultimate male role model. He's been kicking ass on GOG.com for years, but on December 31 2015, Duke has to step out to get more bubble gum. On that day, all Duke Nukem games on GOG.com will be removed from our catalog, but we are in talks with the new rightsholders to bring them back as swiftly as possible. That's why we bid you a farewell for now, Duke: with every Duke Nukem game at 90% off as a bundle, or -75% individually.

The Duke's humble beginnings lie with Duke Nukem 1 + 2, two explosively cool run-n-gun platformers where Duke kicks his very first alien ass, travels in time, and authors "Why I'm SO Great" - a retrospective and autobiography. All in the year 1997, a dystopian near-future.

Years later, on January 29, 1996, our time: Duke makes history. Total meltdown follows the release of Duke Nukem 3D in which we finally see the world through the man's eyes. It's a world of pornography, violence, and candid obscenity. Duke's world. And we are entranced. By the campy risque, and by the unadulterated joy of Duke's violent adventures and one-liners.

Then, for years Duke rides the hype-train: in 1997, we behold his Balls of Steel - a pinball game warmly welcomed for its smooth, realistic physics and plenty of Duke on the side. In the year 2002, Duke goes back to basics in Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project, a modern 3D sidescrolling platformer that's nothing if not a fun and mindless pleasure.

This is not where the Duke Nukem legacy ends, but it is where we part ways - for now. So Farewell, Duke! The sale will last until December 31, 10:59 AM GMT. The games will be removed from sale soon thereafter, but they will not disappear from your shelf if you're an owner.
Come get some.

Last chance to get Dragonsphere for free.
With the start of the new year, Dragonshpere will no longer be a free game on GOG.com due to new publisher agreements. If you haven't claimed a copy for yourself, make sure to do so by December 31, 22:59 PM GMT - afterwards the game will be regularly priced at $5.99.

If you haven't yet, you can also check out our catalog of gaming freebies, where you'll find classics like Beneath a Steel Sky, Biomenace, Ultima IV and ten more!
Damn Gearbox Software.
I bet it was Gearbox or their publisher 2K Games that has enforced this because either party "owns" the Duke Nukem IP in some way.
And yes, I did get the bundle, $3 for 5 games is nothing to scoff at and the more places I own them at, the better.

DreamedArtist: Damn this news sucks I hope we get them back soon and maybe gearbox's games as well.

Question is we all know they are being taken down from steam and here and so on but what about 3D Relms site? they had the 32 game bundle with all the dukes we had in DRM Free form like GOG, so do they get to keep the games up as well???

https://3drealms.com/catalog/

they posted no news about it.

Grargar: It will also be removed.

LIMITED AVAILABILITY: GET THE ANTHOLOGY FOR $9.99 BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!
Get your copy of the 3D Realms Anthology before December 31st, 2015. The Anthology will be discontinued in 2016 and will never again be available in this form. This is your last chance to grab a piece of gaming history and at a strongly reduced price for the rest of the year!
Thanks for the heads up! Although I already got most of the games on gog, this was too good a deal to pass up. Only thing that bugs me that they ask for your personal details. Just why...?? Luckily, giving them a German address didn't result in them removing Wolfenstein 3D from my order.
Bad news. But at least we got informed some days before it will happen.
A fair number of the 3D Realms Anthology games are on GOG already, I assume those will also disappear.
Right?

No. Why should they?

Oh I thought the anthology was being discontinued due to licensing issues.
I guess not.

The 3D Realms Anthology pack is a pretty recent product (released just this year). The games contained within it have been available separately for purchase from 3D Realms' site for many years. It will be removed from both Steam and 3D Realms' site, because it contains the Duke Nukem games. Whether it will return in a Duke-less form later remains to be seen.

Thanks for the warning. And with this price of ~2,30€ it is totally worth it. Instant buy : )

Pheace: ps: What happens to gift purchases that are unredeemed after the year ends?
I'd like to know the answer to this question too.

Should something happen? They will work normally like all gifted copies of removed games.
Or you were, perhaps, referring to Dragonsphere?

TheMonkofDestiny: Given how long it has been since Devolver released it, if they haven't made efforts to bring it here by now then it seems unlikely they ever will.

That being said, according to Devolver (via Twitter) the Megaton release will remain where it is (Steam, etc.).
Thanks for the info.

That's what I was asking. I don't think it's a strange question to ask when a game gets taken off the store. I do agree it makes the most sense that they should still work, but it's better to be sure than to just think they will.

mobutu: "Expire: NEVER"
the bought gifts will never expire, but i thought i read that the game will be available to any user who bought the game before its removed after a certain date, i dont know if they automatically assume that the game will be on a users shelf.
When you buy for yourself, it will be on your shelf, gifts that are not redeemed arent on any ones shelf yet.

The games will be removed from sale soon thereafter, but they will not disappear from your shelf if you're an owner.
So you better doublecheck to make sure that unused gifts will also be able to get the game onto a shelf, because unredeemed gifts arent used, and therefore havent put any game on the shelves.

Well, gift codes from past removals (Descent, Fallout, Guilty Gear, Nordic catalog, XIII) have worked normally. The only cases that they didn't was a bug (which was fixed shortly thereafter) and the free Fallout codes that were given away during December 2013 (do note that the codes were invalidated before the games' removal).
