75-90% off Duke Nukem 1+2, Duke Nukem 3D, Balls of Steel, Manhattan Project.

The Duke. Men want to be him, women want to be with him. The manliest of men, the ultimate male role model. He's been kicking ass on GOG.com for years, but on December 31 2015, Duke has to step out to get more bubble gum. On that day, all Duke Nukem games on GOG.com will be removed from our catalog, but we are in talks with the new rightsholders to bring them back as swiftly as possible. That's why we bid you a farewell for now, Duke: with every Duke Nukem game at 90% off as a bundle, or -75% individually.

The Duke's humble beginnings lie with Duke Nukem 1 + 2, two explosively cool run-n-gun platformers where Duke kicks his very first alien ass, travels in time, and authors "Why I'm SO Great" - a retrospective and autobiography. All in the year 1997, a dystopian near-future.

Years later, on January 29, 1996, our time: Duke makes history. Total meltdown follows the release of Duke Nukem 3D in which we finally see the world through the man's eyes. It's a world of pornography, violence, and candid obscenity. Duke's world. And we are entranced. By the campy risque, and by the unadulterated joy of Duke's violent adventures and one-liners.

Then, for years Duke rides the hype-train: in 1997, we behold his Balls of Steel - a pinball game warmly welcomed for its smooth, realistic physics and plenty of Duke on the side. In the year 2002, Duke goes back to basics in Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project, a modern 3D sidescrolling platformer that's nothing if not a fun and mindless pleasure.

This is not where the Duke Nukem legacy ends, but it is where we part ways - for now. So Farewell, Duke! The sale will last until December 31, 10:59 AM GMT. The games will be removed from sale soon thereafter, but they will not disappear from your shelf if you're an owner.
Come get some.

Last chance to get Dragonsphere for free.
With the start of the new year, Dragonshpere will no longer be a free game on GOG.com due to new publisher agreements. If you haven't claimed a copy for yourself, make sure to do so by December 31, 22:59 PM GMT - afterwards the game will be regularly priced at $5.99.

If you haven't yet, you can also check out our catalog of gaming freebies, where you'll find classics like Beneath a Steel Sky, Biomenace, Ultima IV and ten more!

Niggles: This is ludicrous. Why do publishers do this?. Whats the benefit for them?
Maybe because the money is not going to them and goes to the soon to be expire license owner instead. Like Fallout, the money does not go to Besbetha but to interplay. Hence now the classic fallout cannot be sold anymore and you have a new fallout under Besbetha name on GoG

DreamedArtist: Damn this news sucks I hope we get them back soon and maybe gearbox's games as well.

Question is we all know they are being taken down from steam and here and so on but what about 3D Relms site? they had the 32 game bundle with all the dukes we had in DRM Free form like GOG, so do they get to keep the games up as well???

https://3drealms.com/catalog/

they posted no news about it.

Grargar: It will also be removed.

LIMITED AVAILABILITY: GET THE ANTHOLOGY FOR $9.99 BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!
Get your copy of the 3D Realms Anthology before December 31st, 2015. The Anthology will be discontinued in 2016 and will never again be available in this form. This is your last chance to grab a piece of gaming history and at a strongly reduced price for the rest of the year!
OMG I SEE IT NOW :O I must have seen the page when they was still adding that part cause it just said save now and get this great bundle... Damn that blows well I would recommend anyone get this for 10 bucks that is a STEAL at this point
Well, I bought the 2 dukes I didn't had, Manhattan Project and Balls of Steel, such a bargain.

Farewell Duke, I heard he went in a HoneyMoon to a Paradisiac Island with Anita Sarkeesian after knowing she was pregnant, after all this patriarchal years he is a Gentleman after all! There is nothing Duke cannot conquer, even the heart of his haters!

That's what I'm hoping happens. It would be cool to see the Borderlands series here.
A big Thank You to GOG and the current rights holders for the heads-up and heavy discount. At least people get a fair final chance to pick up those games, in case they don't show up here again.

Lin545: This thread should really be renamed into:

"Happy holidays from Gearbox!"
LOL... More similar to a nightmare. :D

TheMonkofDestiny: Gearbox Software
Dear lord. Good luck on getting the game back in the future

Azhdar: If Gearbox accepts to release DKs on GOG, do you think Gearbox will replace Atomic Edition with Megaton Edition?
And can Devolver Digital release Megaton Edition on GOG (without Gearbox's permission)?

Crosmando: That is a poor excuse. GOG/CDP are a multi-million dollar company and the second biggest digital platform (second to Steam). The fact that they were unable to secure the rights to decades old games means that they have failed and obviously have inadequate business and negotiation skills. It's not Gearbox's fault, it is GOG's JOB to fix situations like this, and they have failed to do so.
Come now, that's unfair at best. If Gearbox decides they aren't going to use two distributors because they can get more $$$ for an exclusive, and the terms they're asking for are outrageous, then who's fault is it for not trying to beat those terms? If you want to talk about business then let's go full jedem das seine here and say GOG needs to make money too.

And do try to keep in mind that negotiation only works when the other party is willing to make a deal. See Ukraine for instance, or Chechnya, the only deals Russia is willing to make are those where the country becomes a state and if the country isn't willing to do that then it's not their fault. Or see Palestine and Israel. See DAESH and whoever gets in their way (and is around the same tech level).

If Gearbox doesn't want to deal then a deal won't happen and you know it.

Azhdar: And can Devolver Digital release Megaton Edition on GOG (without Gearbox's permission)?
Given how long it has been since Devolver released it, if they haven't made efforts to bring it here by now then it seems unlikely they ever will.

That being said, according to Devolver (via Twitter) the Megaton release will remain where it is (Steam, etc.).

Is Gearbox leading us into Buchenwald or do they really mean, "jedem das Seine, mir das Meiste"?
bye duke, for now, but hope to see you soon here again :)
