Up to 75% off System Shock 2, Wings, Rocket Ranger, Earth series and more!

It's the weekend! And that means it's also time for another sale. The games are so good, we just had to come up with an awful pun to make up for it. It's Weekend Promo: FUNdamentals, with discounts up to 75% off!

How could we not start with System Shock 2 - an absolutely legendary FPS/RPG hybrid that's paved the way for not just the Bioshock series, but a huge number of modern day shooters. If you you think you've gotten all you can out of the game already, you have to check out the recently released System Shock Infinite mod which expands the story far beyond the ending of the base game - an informal sequel to the title you know and love (or are about to have a major crush on).

If you haven't played Double Fine's Psychonauts yet, now's the time. Seriously. We've also got classic adventures, including the creepy-crawly Bad Mojo Redux and the terrifying I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream, RPG epics including the Two Worlds series, and some emulated retro Amiga action with Rocket Ranger and Wings. Strategy fans - we've got you covered with Defender of the Crown and the Earth twenty-one-something series!

As always, there's more gaming goodness to be had up to 75% off - so check out this weekend's DRM-free FUNdamentals on GOG.com! The promo will last until Tuesday, March 31 at 0359Z, or 3:59 AM GMT.
There actually isn't a single game discounted by 75%, highest is 73%. Those exchange rates. Nice promo tho.
Nice selection of games you've got there, GOG - but instead of buying discounted Cinemaware games I would rather pay full price for new ones...C'mon GOG how long we are to wait for sth Steam users already have for months?

Any thoughts on Defender of the Crown? It kind of looks like it would be a predecessor to Lords of the Realm...
Another weekend without Sacrifice on sale...

Is that a bad thing?

Of course it is. More sales on a game = more people play it . And everyone must play Sacrifice .

Obviously yes for those who want it -_-'
But anyway the effin' Interplay never does a >50% promo.
OK, System Shock 2 has a nice price ... will buy.

at this price its a good value

i think i bought it at normal price , but i grew up with the game (c64 and amiga/amigacd32 and pc)

its not LOTR, and this emulated version (better graphics) doesnt have a real safe option like the more ugly graphics pc version has.

theres also somewhere LOTRS : Lords of The Rising Sun , quite difficult game , esp. the part where you have to use a sword to fend of flying shuriken

I am familiar with cinemaware so i know most games.

It's good (yet simple) mix of strategy and action (similar to other Cinemaware games). If such game would be released today it would be mobile game.
But nevertheless it's a part of gaming history, its Amiga version and it costs blelow EUR 2 so...choice is obvious :-D
Defender of the Crown was a great game on the Amiga 500 [only played it on A500] Admit I wasn't that good at jousting , but that was the part of the game I always looked forward to.[to win a lady's hand and gobble up more land]

Fundamentals?

Aaah, I get it! FUN-da-mentals! A wordplay. So it is like Da (the) Mentals are having some FUN? That's mental! No, its FUNDAMENTAL!

Anyways, I am missing only the Amiga emulated games, so meh. The pricing is way off (compared to the Steam bundle release), and anyway I would be interested only in e.g. the Wings remake, not the original. It hasn't aged well IMHO.

A simple "strategy" game with simple arcade action parts here and there. Its main selling point was kickass graphics and music/audio back in 1986, to show off Amiga hardware. That obviously doesn't work that well anymore, as technology marches on. I think it has mostly nostalgic value, and less to offer to people new to the game (except as a history lesson on some once-remarkable games).

The idea behind Cinemaware games was as if you were in a movie yourself, that's why the settings were also so cliched:

Defender of the Crown: medieval Errol Flynn movies with men in tights, damsels in distress etc.
King of Chicago: 30s mafia movies
They Came From The Desert: 50s alien invasion movies
etc.

That said, I liked Rocket Ranger. To me it was one of the better Cinemaware games.

Good stuff. System Shock 2 and the Cinemaware games are must-haves, and Enclave and Bad Mojo are good picks as well. Got just about everything already, but may as well get Jagged Alliance 2: Wildfire and finish that series here. Finish collecting, that is; from the description I doubt I'll finish the actual game. :)
