Lifthrasil: They can de-list the game if the dev refuses to fix it. As they have done in the past, when a dev was 'unable' to provide patches for games.

Wrong again. In case you didn't notice, the game we were talking about is "For the King" That's a single-player game which requires Galaxy. Sure, they say it's a bug. But since they refuse to fix that but (for whatever reason), they knowingly distribute a single-player game that requires Galaxy to start.
At the very least, they need to remove the "DRM FREE" notice from the side and add one at the top of the description stating that, due to a bug, for the time being, the game requires Galaxy even for single player, regardless of the small print at the bottom stating that Galaxy is required (just) for online co-op.

Being able to de list SOME games due to such doesn't mean they can necessarily do so for ALL partners/games. They might have differing contracts for various partners, as one example of why they might not be able to do such.

I know about that game, but that doesn't mean what I said is/was wrong.....them not taking down a game with a bug that makes the game need galaxy doesn't mean they ditched that pillar, no matter what your mind chooses to think about it.

Now if they start doing it intentionally to many games then i'd agree with you and be pissed as well.

Agreed on this 100%...a disclaimer at the very least would be the right thing to do.

(That is if they can add one....I once told them their text for a game page had spelling/etc errors and they told me they couldn't change it without that partner's say so)

I doubt that. You would continue to find excuses for GOG. Like you are doing now.

Um....have you SEEN the galaxy 1.0/1.2 depreciation threads yet and how much I have said I dislike those decisions?

Or what about my criticisms of the rule enforcement and moderation here on the forums?

Or any of the other times I criticized GOG in the past?

Just because I disagree with an (likely)unfounded theory you want to push doesn't mean I support GOG on everything or like to find excuses for them.

(I just don't like to jump to assumptions without proof or a good reason to believe something, and don't see everything others do as as bad as they do every single time)

Oghamis98: Okay, Why exactly is the GoG downloader being abandoned entirely? Not much in the know here.
So people will use Galaxy obviously.

I actually only found out it was disabled today when trying to download SOR4.

I will NOT be using Galaxy.
https://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/keep_the_gog_downloader_and_keep_it_up_to_date

Please vote, can't bare the thought of trying to download 10 files for just one game with the browser.
It just takes too long!

Thanks:)

Hi Lifthrasil

I would advise against engaging GameRager in discussion, but that is merely my own opinion.

In regards to your concern, I have found the best solution to this type of problem to be to raise a support ticket and demand a refund.

I successfully got a refund for Defcon some time ago based on similar arguments.

Enough refund requests will likely expedite the matter far more efficiently. We must still thank the gogers that brought this matter to attention.
Just because it became part of this discussion/argumentation.
It has been confirmed that "For The King" has been fixed in the meantime and does not contain any DRM anymore.

Nice to hear :)

Btw did you let everyone in the games that need galaxy to run thread know yet? If not i'd post it there as well.

(Edit to all: I see the NPCs downrated this.....I swear, I could say "I wish you all success and support your cause" and some would stupidly downrate it without thinking)

It's where I have this information from so no need to post it there :)

More likely it's just one person who programmed a bot to downvote anything you post automatically.

They have to be manually adding threads(or excluding them) though, as some get hit and some don't...and some get hit a lot more than others.

But whatever, let them play their silly games until the sun goes red giant for all I care.....their time, after all, not mine.

chandra: After announcing that we’re ceasing the active development for GOG Downloader 6 years ago, the time has come to disable it. We put a lot of work into making GOG.COM an up-to-date place for gamers. Supporting GOG Downloader, which became an obsolete tool some time ago, simply does not go hand in hand with the goal we mentioned above.

In a week from now, we will deactivate GOG Downloader entirely, and it won’t be possible to download any files with it. As of the 17th of March, there will be two methods of downloading games from GOG.COM – via the browser or with the GOG GALAXY app. For more information on how to download your games and digital goodies go here.
WTF !?!?!?!

Back when GOG 'stopped development' of the GOG.com Downloader then GOG clearly promised that they 'were never going to break the downloader intentionally' (that's how I remember it phrased) , and now GOG is doing just that !?!?!?

The GOG.com Downloader is a tool I have used regularly , though it's been a while because I ran out of hard drive space. Now today I have to use Google to try to find out why the hell the GOG.com Downloader isn't working any more , I even tried to re-install more times. And then end up sitting here....
Personally I think that it's not OK to have cancelled the the availability of using the GOG.com Downloader , it was an amazing tool.

Thia is a total CRAP move from GOG and the reference to alternative download methods are TOTAL CRAP AS WELL !!!
(Using the GOG.com Downloader then that would *by it self* create a sub-directory for each game that were downloaded AND I wouldn't have to sit here and have to click ON EACH AND EVERY FREAKING SINGLE goodie download like I have to now because the GOG.com Downloader would download ALL the goodies for me for each game !!!)

SO NO MORE CRAP PLEASE !?!?!? Thank you !!!
