To ALL: The link to the wishlist to vote and voice concern over the removal of the GOG DLer is in post 781

===================================

It would seem that Gamerager/Gameracer is intent on derailing this thread.

Not only with the usual drivel but now with drivel links.

Reported.
I posted the wishlist link(to keep it at the end of the thread), voiced support for the cause, and agreed to stay mostly ontopic in the last post I made.

To me that seems more than fair on my part and not derailing.

Now please follow your own advice and please: ignore me if you dislike my posts & stick to the thread topic.

(Also in the future i'd appreciate it if you would/could try to work it out any problems or concerns with me or my posts in other ways[via PM, etc] before trying to strongarm me into silence via reports to staff)

Guys if you can't have a constructive conversation then please stop responding to each other and ignore each other. Stay on topic, and stop with the drama. I would prefer not to have to come back in this thread.

Thanks.

I'm sorry for having to take up your time like this & want you to know I will stick to the topic and ignore anyone else that isn't talking about the thread topic as much as possible from now on.

----------------
That said, to all:

The link to the "Bring back the GOG DLer wishlist entry** is in post 781 and several other posts on this page.

(**=for those that want to voice concern for or displeasure at its removal)

Also one should(if they have the time) add a COMMENT** to the wishlist entry as well when voting.
(votes are important but words speak more volumes than just a vote, imo)

(**=Perhaps explaining why you dislike the move by GOG, and your reactions[if any, such as not buying/etc] to it as well)
----------------

(I will likely bump the thread with another link and vote count in 3+ days, but for now I am done here[unless someone has a question on the thread topic]..later all)

Thanks for the response BKGaming.

Unfortunately it is not good enough.

I gave up directly responding to Gamerager many, many posts ago when I called him out. Many of his peers have tried to point him in the right direction to no avail.

There is a direct case against Gamerager continually going off topic and even going as far as to justify it with mental health issues.

you call it, but I am unrepentant.

Me or him, but please leave the thread open:it's improtant.

Breja: Ah, so you were going for a pointeless tautology. Sorry, my bad.
LOL. There was a double meaning behind me doing it the way I did, but you need a certain level of savvy to pick that up, so my apologies to you if you thought you were in the target audience ... mistakes happen. :)

P.S. Anyone who knows me, knows I love to play with words and phrases, and I am always trying to improve my communication skills, but alas even reading takes effort .... and due diligence ... which oddly enough, many seem to lack in this virtual existence.

TRY HARDER MY FRIENDS! .... the rewards are worth it. ;)

Now back to my hermit cave, never to be seen in this topic again ............ until next time ..... ha ha ha ha.

Edit: nevermind, clearly not worth it.

Just posting to tell everybody and GOG that I have not forgotten and that I am still disappointed in their decision.
Also posting to tell BKGamer that ignoring each and everyone probably will lead to a pretty non existant discussion :D

Indeed and often necessary.
Seconding MarkoH01 on not forgetting and the disappointment.

MarkoH01: Just posting to tell everybody and GOG that I have not forgotten and that I am still disappointed in their decision.
I am upset somewhat by their decision on this, and also somewhat more so their decision on other things over the years.

(Rep system, dropping of various pillars, curation of some games from coming to the store, dropping exe files from some games, etc)

This is why I suggest people "vote with their wallet" and perhaps buy elsewhere if they want to and can....it sends a much clearer message than some forum posts, imo.

If not, people can add a vote to the wishlist & also maybe even add a comment there as well.
(I wish more than 10% of the voters had added a comment...it only takes a few moments and likely sends a much stronger message than just voting)

Also to the thread: The wishlist voting link was posted by Timboli in Post 790 above
(for those who want to express their dislike and disapproval of and disappointment in GOG dropping the GOG DLer)

(Current vote count: 1677)
-------------------------

(Side note: I will be back in several days to update the thread if need be...otherwise I might be gone a bit longer....later, y'all)

Hi all

the direct link to the gogdownloader voting link can be found here:-

https://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/keep_the_gog_downloader_and_keep_it_up_to_date

please note that is is in no way relevant to any of the previously posted material:

(Rep system, dropping of various pillars, curation of some games from coming to the store, dropping exe files from some games, etc)

which is off topic for this thread.

Well as they say in one of my favorite comic SciFi movies - Galaxy Quest.

Never Give Up, Never Surrender!

Despite having some joy and additional benefits with 'gogrepo.py', I'd still rather have the old GOG Downloader back, as it was direct quick simple and easy.

That said, if unlike me, you stick to certain structure and storage limits & layouts, I can see why some are quite happy with gogrepo.py. I'm not able to reap the full benefit right now, and will likely never be able to, as I am much more highly organized anyway, and don't like to limit myself to that sort of basic arrangement.

Perhaps if 'gogrepo.py' allowed you to directly specify which files to download, then it would be a good replacement for the old GOG Downloader. At the moment, when I just want to download a patch file or a later added DLC etc, I still have to use a browser link, with a third party program like Free Download Manager 5.

And while I mostly tended to download flat out, it would be nice if 'gogrepo.py' allowed you to control download speed.

P.S. When I first buy a game at GOG though, 'gogrepo.py' is well and truly adequate enough to download all files and verify them. That's its selling point for me right now, with the absence of the GOG Downloader.

Gogrepo could be a bit daunting for some users not familiar with Python -or really not inclined to use it though, and that's where what you're working on would be good since your interface bridges that divide. And as you said, indeed GOG Downloader was quick simple and easy and not to forget lightweight, unlike somethings I can think of. That's what makes that pill really hard to swallow, if you actually manage to.
