Just as BenKii was enjoying this morning's breakfast with his Earl Grey tea, he hears Rose ask, "Where's Kyp?" BenKii thought back to the last time he saw him and remembered last night Kyp asked about the coordinates on that map he bought from the marketplace. BenKii addressed the crew, "Kyp wanted me to look up these coordinates for a place called "Death's Door". It's possible he left on a side adventure to check it out but I'd have thought he'd at least leave a note if he'd do such a thing. Perhaps we should check his room to see if he did? We can also go ask the Mysterious Trader back in town and see if he knows anything more about this "Death's Door". I sure do hope that Kyp is just off adventuring and didn't get kidnapped by the Hag."

BenKii checks out Kyp's room for anything out of place or a note as to where he went. If there's time he'll don his disguise and return to the marketplace to ask the Mysterious Trader if Kyp returned to him asking about the map he sold to our friend. BenKii also notices another map called "Fight Club" in the trader's store and requests to buy it for 1 TT. This Fight Club sounded very familiar. He'll then return to the brothel with any news about Kyp to the crew.
Aye, Fair One. Devin wilt report what he learns about Kyp to the crew and follow up whatever he can.
Mission 7 - Turn 29; "Where's Kyp?"
*Turn Ends 9PM UTC, 12 August 2025.*

In Order: Count, Argy, Gilius, BenKii, Devin, Bellandra, Grog'tial, Crew.

Count Karnstein: (roll dice*2) Seeing the meal before you, you spread your arms in a gesture of deep appreciation. "How delightful. Argy, ye truly know best! How could a man live all these years without such a quality service?" Your thoughts momentarily turn to memories of your old, now dead on account of Beckett, loyal manservant Igor, and your old everyday diet during your time the city ... which consisted primarily of rats and alley cats. When she isn't serving fish heads, Argy's cooking is a definite step up from the old days. "Mind this, folks, I may yet come to see the error of me ways an' convince meself that choosin' the path of a bachelor was a mistake." You eye the rare steak hungrily. Hopefully the breakfast will be enough to recuperate and you won't need to use one of the overpriced potions right away. "Miss Rose! Be a dear an' bring me a pint o' bitter, to make this morning even sweeter!" you say, tossing two silver pieces to Rose, feeling magnanimous this morning to include a tip.

Count, as the others discuss Kyp's disappearance you begin to eat, feeling the rare meat beginning to restore you before voicing your opinion. "Given it's certain he ain't holed up in one o' the bedrooms with some sweet'eart by 'is side, I'd inquire whether any o' the girls ain't missin' either. Mayhaps they arranged a tryst somewhere remote, or even ran off into the blue altogether in the flush of a youthful fling," You pause as you recall your own night's activities. Perhaps you were a little reckless in your teasing about being 'all meow 'n' no scratch type o' puss'. "Although after gettin' t'know some o' the local color more intimately, I'm beginnin' t'worry they could've eaten the poor guy... Anyhoo, without any lead or reason to believe something truly bad 'appened, 'twould be lookin' fer a needle in a haystack. We can't exactly afford to comb the whole town now, can we? Master Devin could instruct his lovely lady-agents to discreetly ask 'round port in case he'd really left town, while we keep to our schedule. Shouldn't be 'arder than locatin' us in that devilish dungeon, I reckon."

Argy: You knew you should have gotten more fish heads! You wonder aloud if maybe Kyp might have gone down to the fishing docks for breakfast.

Gilius: (roll dice*2) Worried about Kyp's disappearance, you try to remember when you saw him last. You recall Kyp was there last evening during the evening meal, even though he didn't speak up during the briefing, almost as if he was preoccupied. You turn to Devin. "Did ye notice anythin'? Or maybe did yer cat notice anything this night?" Thinking again, you remember that Devin and Grog'tial were going to observe the graveyard painting for clues last night. "Did ye check the paintings?" you ask, knowing only Devin should be able to get to them. "Could he 'ave gone in one of 'em?"

Gilius, you search for Kyp's belongings, hoping for a clue. They are gone. Although it is easy for him to have put most in his new Satchel of Holding, it still means you doubt anyone is simply going to find him with one of the girls upstairs.

Captain BenKii: (roll dice*3) Just as you are enjoying your breakfast and Earl Gray tea, hot, you hear Rose ask, "Where's Kyp?" You look over the Crew. Kyp isn't among them.

BenKii, thinking back, you remember Kyp asked about the coordinates on that old map he bought from the Mysterious Trader in the marketplace yesterday. "Kyp wanted me to look up these coordinates for a place called 'Death's Door'. It's possible he left on a side adventure to check it out but I'd have thought he'd at least leave a note if he'd do such a thing. Perhaps we should check his bunk to see if he did? We can also go ask the Mysterious Trader back in town and see if he knows anything more about this 'Death's Door'. I sure do hope that Kyp is just off adventuring and didn't get kidnapped by the Hag."

BenKii, you go to Kyp's bunk to investigate and find Gilius is doing the same. You find no note, but Gilius points out Kyp's things are missing too. Troubled, you don your disguise and return to the marketplace to to ask the Mysterious Trader if Kyp returned to him asking about the map. The Mysterious Trader shakes his head at you and says only, "That door closed now." Instead he gives you an enigmatic smile and waves his hand invitingly at his new wares scattered across the flying carpet. Yup, still flying. With no visible means of anti-grav generation. You make a note to tell your science officer, it will drive him crazy trying to figure it out. Looking over the items you notice an old poster for 'Fight Club'. This Fight Club sounds very familiar. You buy it for 1TT. You never know, maybe it will come in handy. Turning it over you see a list of fighters and rounds on the back. You return to the brothel to share your news with the Crew and get updated on others' findings.

Devin: (roll dice*7) You are about to ask Count if he got any sleep when Rose's question stops you. Looking over the gathered Crew, you note Rose is right. Kyp is missing. You shake your head in answer to Gilius' questions. After watching the painting with Grog'tial last night, you pulled it from the frame and returned it to the vault. Then you had gone to check on Beckett's spies, leaving only after they had retired to the Inn, setting the cat to track their movements before returning to rest. You quickly double check the paintings. All the paintings are there, trapped and locked away. You don't see Kyp in any of them. You check with the cat. The cat hasn't seen Kyp, and Beckett's spies are currently eating breakfast all friendly with a nobleman and his cohorts at the Inn. You report your findings to the Crew.

Devin, you go to speak to Madame and the ladies. None of them saw Kyp last night. Then you check with Gormi, knowing the bouncer watches who comes and goes at the brothel at night. Gormi tells you he saw Kyp sneak out quietly in the hours before dawn. Kyp didn't respond to his hail. It was like Kyp was sleep-walking, Gormi says. You share Gormi's observation with the Crew.

Devin, you check with Gilius and learn Kyp took his gear. You begin to test if you might be able to trace Kyp through your lady's magic in his charm. You are able to pick up a faint direction, towards the sea, but it will take concentration. Meanwhile you request Bellandra to ask Pearl and Finn if they've seen Kyp in the harbor and if any ships left in the night or dawn hours and can they describe them. After hearing her answer you leave to check with a couple of your contacts and set a seabird watch for the young half-mer.

Bellandra: (roll dice*6) You mentally contact the Owl Gargoyle seeking information whether the gargoyle has seen Kyp. You are already expanding your inquiry to the other shipkin when Devin makes his request that you ask Pearl and Finn about Kyp and if any ships have left. The Owl Gargoyle tells you Kyp didn't come near the Wolf ship they are staying on, but there were many sailors that returned to the docks in the wee hours before dawn, dragging along others that appeared to be drunken comrades. There were three ships besides fishing vessels which have left. One a fast frigate in the night, and two merchant ships at dawn. Pearl and Finn confirm the ships and the direction each took, but weren't contacted by Kyp, nor did they see him. They tell you they've been concentrating mainly on the harbor itself and approaches to it, but there are other ways down to the sea. In an offhand comment, Pearl mentions there was siren song last night, from an archipelago further to the west. They do say as a half-mer that Kyp could have slipped silently away in the water.

Grog'tial: (roll dice*3) You scribble a short message with your emerald nib pen, making sure to include necessary signifiers to make certain it'll get proper attention, and have one of the brothel ladies slip it with a coin to one of the street boys that run odd errands for them. You make sure she tells him to deliver it secretively to the shady fence. You figure if anyone will have seen if anything untoward has happened to Kyp, it would be someone moving about in that sphere of influence, and that he should have enough pull to get word filtering back to him swiftly. An hour later the street boy returns. Brandy hands you a small slip of paper that looks like some sort of shopping list. When you decode it, it reads: "Smuggler saw 2 figures beach farside docks. Yours?"

Crew: Kyp is still missing. You can share the information between you for some theories. Did he go looking for breakfast at the fishing docks? Was he following the Old Map coordinates? Has he been influenced by the hag somehow? Did he board a ship or was he taken? Your choice going forward is either to focus on finding Kyp, or to continue in your quest for the mushrooms in the graveyard and look at finding Kyp when you return.

GM Note: I am pausing the action here. Sorry for the short notice but I've very recently been informed that over half the Crew will be out at various times between now and early August, including myself. Rather than try to rush through, risk remaining crew being overwhelmed or have to pause in the middle of "In Search of Kyp" or "Be there Shroom in the Grave?" I am electing to suspend the thread here until 12 August, 2025. From there we can continue on into some exciting action for the Pirate Day GA this year. Thanks for being such a great Crew! Now that we've almost gathered everything you'll need, we'll hope to get the full crew back together for some high (and below) seas adventure and the coming finale. Arrr!
