Pardinuz: I still don't understand why people get addicted to these mindless clicking games... o.O
It's hardly even a clicking game. It's closer to "
progressquest". It gives an impression of progression (and meta-progression : progression of the acceleration of progression) at minimal involvement cost. With the little thrill of reaching that impossible-sounding threshold, and unlocking that new superpowerful thingy that allows to reach the even more impossible threshold. With sometimes an amusing flavor.
But basically, it's the fact of having it progress without even having to pay attention that is relaxing. You do other stuff in parallel, you sometimes forget it for days, but it's still playing in the background, and when you get back, lots of points to use.
Although this varies a lot. Some games (such as clicker heroes) require more and more presence and activity as you progress, others (such as idle evolution) allow for more and more idling as you progress.
It's all very dumb, that being said. Caresses a very primiive side of our brain. With an often self-aware, parodic tone (again, inherited from the "progressquest" mindset).
