"Yes, we’re working on bringing Final Cut to GOG.com, but there are still a few bumps on the road, the game must work perfectly with the GOG Galaxy client, and that takes also time. (If you have the trilogy on GOG, you’re eligible for a free Steam copy of Final Cut in the meantime, we can offer you this much. Contact support@neocoregames.com)"

Essentially its another galaxy client issue blocking the games release here.

nightcraw1er.488: Thanks. Bleeding Galaxy crap again ruining it for those of us who have no interest in it, nor will ever use it.
And yet I sent them an image of my order page on GoG and got nothing.
avatar
tremere110: To be fair, that galaxy crap is what is attracting developers to GoG who would not otherwise come here.
Can you please bring references for this claim?

I already know that numerous AAA developers are on GOG as a result of its introduction of regional pricing, but I didn't know about this new claim.

Aside from Stardock, I don't know any AAA developers on board because of Galaxy.
Stardock ref

I don't even know if stardock is AAA for that matter.

Thank you.

I have read the article you link to and I cannot find any quote in it that convinces me that Stardock joined because of galaxy (i.e. would not have joined were galaxy not to exist).

If anything, I would guess (nothing but a guess) that the two parties reached an agreement in which one of GOG's conditions was for Stardock to add galaxy support for their games in order to attempt to gain some traction for galaxy.

AlienMind: "galaxy support", what does that mean? I thought it's fully optional?
It is for single player and if you're not interested in achievements, game time tracking and other features provided by Galaxy. Many devs don't want to go thru the trouble of developing and maintaining their own multiplayer implementation and framework so they use what Steam/GOG Galaxy provide.

I can't find the link, but there was at least one case where an Indie developer was asked about his games and mentioned that Achievements and Leaderboards and Daily Quests type things he considered an essential part of the game experience and he didn't want to release an inferior product on GoG. This was before Galaxy was even a thing.

Thank you.

I wish someone would make a list of developers who release their games here because of galaxy (like the one you mention) and those that do not release them here because of galaxy (like van helsing final cut), but I guess it's a tall order.

For the record, I don't think that developer is actually here. It was probably closer to the truth to say he was trying to shut up a GoG fanboy who was pestering him on his game's Steam thread...

The whole quote from what I recall came off as more of a "Why Steamworks is so wonderful" kinda thing.

OK. I was confused because if you have normal "connect to ip" option in the game (which this game has i think), it's fully multiplayer-capable as far as i'm concerned. The only thing I would want out of galaxy is "nat punchthrough", so I don't have to forward a port on my router.

Grargar: Achievements and maybe multiplayer.
So they hold it back just because of the two things many of us arent interested in at all?. what a pain in the proverbial..
