We would like to inform you that, due to our storage and CDN provider's outage, we are encountering technical issues that may cause difficulties in downloading and updating your games both through the GOG GALAXY client and GOG Store. Already downloaded files are in no way affected.

We are trying to mitigate this external problem by switching to our secondary storage while our provider is restoring data. We would also like to highlight that those issues do not affect purchasing games. Currently available discounts on selected titles will not be extended due to the above.

It is our team's top priority to resolve those issues and we aim to resolve them as fast as possible. Apologies for any inconveniences caused.

Mr.Caine: Hilariously sad post. How many of those games did you played even once? 2%? 1%? How many of those precious games do you plan to play in this lifetime? Less than 1%? Meanwhile people on Steam play and enjoy video games right now as opposed to making backups. Backups for versions of games that are more often than not missing features/patches present on Steam versions. That's not even mentioning thousands of games that were never available on GOG and never will be. And GoG will go bankrupt before Steam does, because regulars here know-this site is mismanaged to hell and back. So keep worrying about outdated backups instead of playing and enjoying video games. They're gonna have to rely on CDPR to keep making Geraldo just to stay above water.

Huh? I definitely buy games more to collect than to play them, especially that I hunt for gems I've played already in my childhood. GOG offline installers makes me feel I really own my collection without any workarounds and third party software needed. Btw. GOG Galaxy is actually great tool for downloading installers, I'm using browser just to check what games got updates and then queue them to download on secondary pc and then synchronize with my 3 separate backups on external hdds. :P

About platforms going bankrupt or not - such catastrophic event isn't needed at all to lose access to all your games. Uplay already dumped me from playing Far Cry 3 and Blood Dragon on my older laptop just because it runs on Windows 7! Steam screams to me the same gonna happen in the end of 2023.. All this while I prefer to play on my older laptop when I'm out in my summer home in the village, now even mobile internet won't help since these platforms simply stole content I bough from them that worked perfectly fine on older OS just because of their DRMs. One day the same gonna happen with my hi-end pc on WIndows 10 too and GOG installers will be the last things still running. Yes, GOG could do it all even better but what they do is good enough and I'm happy to pay them for job they do, because I don't feel like messing with game files, using any third party soft or download any cracks to play my games like I would be forced to on other platforms.

SargonAelther: As if people don't buy games they will never play on Steam either. There are probably far more Steam users with thousands of games than there are GOG users.
Wasn't there steam survey that showed most Steam users don't play the games they buy?

Thought the same ... and since your quote showed his old avatar I now regocnized him. Hi from me too :)

foad01: This Steam, Goldberg, SteamDRM thing here is entirely off-topic and has nothing to do with the technical issues.
This is not completely true. GOGs server went down so their customers are discussing alternatives in case something like this might happen on a more permanent scale So while it is not 100& on topic I'd still say it is related. If GOG likes the discussion is another thing.

What do you want the community to discuss here instead? There's only so much you can say about technical issues - being only a customer ;)

I just wanted to say thanks for everything you guys do. I don't mind being patient while the issues are resolved. it happens.

SargonAelther: Ah interesting. I knew Steam had a command-line, but I didn't know it had a stand-alone CLI.

mrkgnao: It's just for downloading/installing/updating, it doesn't have any other functionality. It was written primarily to automate steam game installation for multiplayer servers.
It can also be used to download SteamWorkshop mods without owning the game on Steam. You normally can't download mods for the games you don't own, but I used Steam CMD to grab some mods for my GOG version of Serious Sam 4 for example.

I found it irritating to open this thread and see people talking about how easy it is to crack Steam versions. You can ignore me here and continue.

There hasn't been any new update.
Hope this isn't PSN 2011.

I have games on both Steam and GOG I may never play! Got them on sale, for a rainy day. Getting fired, or retirement. There will be time then. Oh, yes.

You are quoting a post which includes advertisement for another store which is against the CoC of the forum. You probably want to remove it.
