Are you looking for cutting-edge, stunning visuals? Then we have some awesome news for you – Patch 1.62 for Cyberpunk 2077 is now available on GOG!

With this update, our friends at CD PROJEKT RED have teamed up with NVIDIA to bring a completely new, fully ray-traced, aka path-traced, rendering mode to the game – Ray Tracing: Overdrive Mode.

Patch 1.62 pushes the boundaries of what’s possible in current technology. Because of its groundbreaking nature, the update is a technology preview intended for the high-end PCs. While it’s not going to be perfect from the start and players might experience some issues, it is a vision of the future that CD PROJEKT RED and NVIDIA want to share, and are committed to continue working on and improving.

If you’d like to know more details about the update, full information about it can be found HERE.

Wake up Samurai, we have new sights to marvel upon!

ssling: This is better video with comparisons: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-ORt8313Og
That is a better video. And yeah the visibility is still poor. The daylight is like blinding bloom and dark scenes lose all visibility. I don't see the appeal in not being able to see well. Like how is that supposed to be realistic?

Take the scene in the car: https://youtu.be/I-ORt8313Og?t=145

How can it be insanely sunny outside the car and yet so insanely dark inside the car that you can't make out much of his right arm? Have you ever been in a car on a sunny day like that and had that poor visibility inside the vehicle? I never have. I think it looks ridiculous & certainly is not realistic lighting.

Does RT make games slightly prettier? Sure. Does it enhance gameplay in any way? Nope. All the while it needs that much more performance grunt.

That takes me back to when one of the Battlefields was one of the first titles to receive RT enhancement and people joked about how the extra performance needed for shiny eyeballs and reflective puddles was ultimately useless when actually playing the damn thing. While the tech may have improved, the latter statement very much still holds.

I'll take well-done visual art design over tech powerhouse displays any day of the week, and such usually age far more gracefully then whatever new hotness was used at the time. *shrug*

WinterSnowfall: Quickly everyone, let's go and buy out 4090s now... not :P.
It's pretty telling that even those wouldn't be able to provide a smooth performance without a healthy helping of DLSS.

Do TPP mods look good now? From what I hear CP is in a good enough place to be fun now; but FPS only is still a major dealbreaker.

clarry: It's funny because Deus Ex is also my favorite game but I just don't see any relation to cyberpunk. It just looks like a looter shooter.
It's also funny because I wasn't looting nor shooting in my playthrough of 70 hours. It's not an immersive-sim by any stretch, but the freedom of play styles is there.

Concerning the "gated content": you guys really want that useless Galaxy t-shirt in your inventory, don't ya?
"Wake up Samurai, we got more brains to fry with NVIDIA Bling."

We will never forget: "Advanced RPG mechanics based on pen&paper RPG system."
It reminds me of the olds days with low frame rates ...or consoles. 30fps 3440x1440 without dlss or frame gen. While I will do RT high I prefer frame gen over dlss. But trying frame to get from 30fps to 60fps retains the slow feel of the game so you have to use both to make the game feel good to play.

I do think the technologies used are nice but its also a reminder of the early 2000s where both nvidia and ati cheated on their drivers to be crowned the fastest. The other ofcoarse is not everyone can afford the current price tag for the performance.
It seems there's an almost forgotten wishlist entry for removing the drm gated behind Galaxy. It could use some love :)

New graphics cards cannot be that expensive, can they? I mean, I bought my current one new for well under €200.

------
EDIT: I chose the most expensive listing I could find with a quick search. That shop probably do not get a lot of customers but hey, work less and still earn well. All their prices are like that what I could see.

Stop being daft. I don't really know or care what the content is. I just care that the title has a non-zero amount of content behind a DRM wall. That's enough. I have principles and all that, you know? You should try!

The 90 line of cards is pretty much what their Titans used to be. They are horribly expensive, but certainly not as outrageous as pictured. Someone is clearly taking the piss with that listing as it's over double what it should be.

Even so, the "normal" price is beyond silly. My entire gaming rig I bought at the end of 2019 was just a bit more than that card alone. That's not just inflation, but pure greed from NVIDIA at this point.

Well it's always nice to get a preview of the kinds of graphics normal gamers can look forward to enjoying a few years from now.

Really? So, if it were paid DLC, you'd still complain it's not given for free? And I'm the one being daft?

At least don't talk BS about things you have no clue, you know? You should try!

You're crying about an in-game Galaxy t-shirt that's useless in the game world. And you'd want that because you don't wanna use Galaxy. That's the definition of irony. And lunacy.

Edit: not to mention that your very own personal definition of DRM is not congruent with the widely accepted version of DRM. But that doesn't serve your narrative, now, does it?

You can use certain console commands with CET and version 1.61 to get the reward items:
https://wiki.redmodding.org/cyber-engine-tweaks/

Game.AddToInventory("Items.Preset_Katana_GoG",1)
Game.AddToInventory("Items.GOG_DLC_Jacket",1)
Game.AddToInventory("Items.GOG_DLC_TShirt",1)
Game.AddToInventory("Items.GOG_Galaxy_TShirt",1)

It should also be possible to write a mod to add these items somewhere in the game.

This is what happens when hardware manufacturers figure out that R&D companies have infinitely more money than dirty consumer peasants, and price their stuff accordingly. On the plus side, having the latest and greatest is not nearly as important as it was 10-15 years ago.

"Paid DLC"? What does that have to do with anything?? Of course it'd be a problem if it were hidden behind DRM, whether paid or not.

As for definitions of DRM: There's no sensible definition of DRM that excludes this but includes other widely acknowledged-as-DRM things. It's content that requires an online connection (and even more, being logged into an account) to activate. Moreover, it requires re-activation, even on the same device, since they've stated it must be at least once per game start/save file. This makes it even worse and strict than many of the reviled ones during the Starforce/Securom/Tages, and certainly at least equivalent to Steam DRM/CEG.

Anyway, it's clear you are just the sort who just doesn't care about making the world better or consumer rights, only which the shiny baubles and trends you can get, so I shall not engage any further.
