bluethief: Just signed you up. Have fun with all of those :)
I will try :)
bluethief: First thing I noticed was how the character movement is clunky, especially if one is used to play today's hack & slash games with smooth controls and animations. But Blade of Darkness is from 2001, so it's kind of expected. It's not super bad, but it requires one to get used to it.
Yeah, it is a wee bit clunky, but i'd perhaps take that over the super hard gameplay of the Demons/Dark Souls games.
(that said, those games do look very nice, and have some nice lore/etc)
Speaking of clunky: I now remember playing
Rune, and being irked at how hard it was/is to get rid of the Hel minions(you need to jump up while fighting them and lop off their heads, else they get back up).
bluethief: Regarding the levels themselves, they are wider and longer that I was expecting, because there's always some backtracking, but nothing too major. They're not super detailed but get the job done. But what they're lacking in detail they compensate in atmosphere.
One thing is for certain: the game grabbed me and I'm always thinking on when I'll have the chance to play some more.
Small tip: make sure to keep an eye out for the secret areas(iirc they're marked by runes on the walls/etc nearby their entrances) while ya play :)
bluethief: I think I played a little of 3, but remember nothing of it. Never played 4, but since it's available here on GOG I might get it in the future.
3 is set mainly in a mall, iirc......it's actually one of my faves(of the bits I played), as I love the setting and etc. I also somewhat like the intro section(which
*semi spoiler* one can complete in two ways, either by being kylled while going through it, or by getting to the end of it
*end spoiler*).
As for 4: iirc I found the bits I played to be decent as well.
Small tip if you ever play 4: make sure to look out your apartment door's peephole every so often.

Suicide_Angel: I've played a few hours of Anachronox. I can tell it's one of those games that takes a while to get properly started. Not much has happened in the plot so far to make me care about it. I am enjoying the cyberpunk atmosphere and the soundtrack though. I'd probably complain about the way the game is laid out, which forces you to go back and forth down a (mostly) linear city several times. There's no fast travel system that I'm aware of. There do seem to be more routes opening up though, so maybe it's not as bad as it seems at first.
A small (prolly obvious) tip: make sure to keep note of various things you find in the environment, as some things can only be gotten to later on(like some areas/items which need certain characters or skills to enter/obtain)
