The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's Next-Gen Update is up and running, allowing every previous owner of the game to enjoy it’s plethora of enhancements, like amazing graphical improvements, community-made mods, cross-progression, additional content within the game, gameplay and quality of life changes, and much more, for free!

And although there’s so much stuff to do in our favorite, dark fantasy world, we catch ourselves way too often just marveling at the beauty of the next-gen updated Continent! And it’s hard not to: ray traced global illumination and ambient occlusion, “ULTRA+” graphical settings on PC, upscaled texture to 4K for various characters, and incredible environmental improvements are really doing wonders!

And here's a little comparison to prove it!

We mean… just look at those details! And how about you, did you take some awesome screenshots while playing after the update? If yes, please, feel free to share it with us in the comments.

And if you’d like to do so, but don’t own The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition yet, now is the best time to grab it, as it is on a -80% discount during our Winter Sale (until January 2nd, 11 PM UTC). Alongside other CDPR’s gaming gems like Cyberpunk 2077 (-50%), GWENT: Rogue Mage - Deluxe Edition (-30%), or Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales (-70%).

We hope you enjoy the holiday season everyone, have a good one!

Well i tried it. The game gave me shivers, Ultra +, nvida hair, brrrrrr ...... 350 watts for a solid 60 fps experience.... now i don't need more though, in all honesty, my gsync screen seems pretty unfazed about 60 or a 100 fps but, it does seem customary to complain right? my complaints would go to the nvidia hair option, it just does not seem to work. Geralt's hair comes of as this white blob resembling a bord of pasta. I'm not paying for this! My electricity is better used elsewhere!!

Cooking pasta, instead of watching it move ?... :p

SpellSword: What DRM has been added?

I only shop at GOG because they have an anti-DRM stance, has something changed?

Syphon72: Free DRM cosmetic dlc was added to Witcher 3. You need to login into galaxy to use it. The same rewards system as cyberpunk 2077.
Thank you for the information.

I am not happy about this development at all, what happened to Galaxy being an 'optional' client GOG?

romgb: You forgot the new bugs, the removal of HBAO+, this DRM thing, etc.
Ppl are calling out on CD Projekt Red bullshit.

I think it's funny that if you take your TV/microwave/etc to a repair shop and they give it back to you totally destroyed you would go there and "complain" about it, even requesting a new item. But for videogames? Nah, it's wrong, you need to accept everything.
That's why this industry is getting even worse year after year.
Haven't seen any new bugs, the DX12 version (most upgraded) has better AO than the HBAO in the original, even if didn't the other improvements still put it way ahead and DRM on useless promo items doesn't bother me.

If the game was "destroyed" I would be angry. I still rant about Deus Ex 3 only having its lesser "director's cut" on here. However that's not the case with this game, from my perspective. The new version is an overall win. Also the old version is provided, and they never had to update it again anyway, so even if you hate the new version you literally lost nothing.

Like I said though, people like yourself are addicted to being angry.
