Satisfying!

We're testing out an up-and-coming feature in GOG Galaxy: Achievement Notifications that will be part of the game overlay in the future, and <span class="bold">The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt</span> is our playground!

You too can experience that satisfying feeling of scoring a new achievement in GOG Galaxy, but beware - it's a Beta feature that's still being tested. On you.

November 12 - Update:
To enable your Achievement Notifications, first make sure that you have claimed and installed the 16 Free DLC pack. You should now see a new Game Overlay setting in the client (enabled by default), use this toggle to enable or disable the feature.
If you don't see your notifications - make sure that the feature was enabled for you automatically, or simply try turning it off and on again.

Enjoy the new (and easier to use) Achievement Notifications in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt!

BarenJude: sadly not all achievements work at all. I can get contract for the shrieker, and i did it like 4 times...
Yup, achievements are still broken. I finished the game and am on level 35 and the "Munchkin" achievement for being on level 35 is still not flagged as achieved, same thing with the "Return to Sender" achievement, I've killed many many more than 3 enemies by reflecting their arrows back at them. Woodland Spirit also did not register.

mike_cesara: I'm about 40 hours in the game and some achievements already unlocked. Even more since I've loaded friend's save.. I think a reset function would be very helpful : )
Already updated to beta channel, may test it as long as overlay not going to hit my poor performance. Could you reset my achievements on server side?

edit:
btw. Please, stop updating xinput1_3.dll, it's a bit annoying since I'm using x360ce to make the game work with my gamepad. And I guess I'm not the only one..
I use x360ce too and I'm with you on that, very annoying.
I'm still having Server Problem and can't update Witcher 3 through Galaxy.
:(

Have you tried setting that file to read only? That would presumably stop any updates from changing it.

Alternately, copy that file somewhere else and every time there's a patch, switch it back with your original version.

(I sympathise, as I used to use x360ce before I got a new controller, but as it's not native it's probably not high on CDPR/GOG's priority list)

I have, with no success.. Neither read only nor system file.. Turning off automatic updates works. It's not a problem to get the file back, just annoying : ) And personally I don't like xbox controller, definitely not going to get one.
Notifications works great, but The Witcher crashes randomly after the update. I've left a note along with logs at mantis #3500
Unfortunately GOG achievements are broken in Witcher 3 from the release.
I have few of them, that surely accomplished by me, but in GOG Galaxy they are displayed as incomplete.

Some of the broken achievements was fixed with one of the patches, but not all.

+1

Even after the updates, some achievements still don't work for me, such as !Kaer Morhen Trained", "Woodland Spirit", or "Armed and Dangerous". No big deal though, never been an achievement hunter, anyway.

GOG.com: Satisfying!

We're testing out an up-and-coming feature in GOG Galaxy: Achievement Notifications that will be part of the game overlay in the future, and <span class="bold">The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt</span> is our playground!

Starting today, you too can experience that satisfying feeling of scoring a new achievement in GOG Galaxy, but beware - it's a Beta feature that's still being tested. On you.

In order to try it out yourself, you'll first have to subscribe to the alternative update channel for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and download the most recent beta patch. To do this, navigate to your game's GOG Galaxy page (simply click on the game in your sidebar), use the MORE tooltip to select CONFIGURE, and toggle the BETA CHANNELS setting to ON.

You'll now be able to use the new CHANNEL dropdown to select the beta update channel for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - and enjoy the new Achievement Notifications. If you want to turn them off again, you can use the Rollback function to restore your game to the previous version.

Enjoy!

Guys I found a fix for your Achievement problems!

http://forums.cdprojektred.com/threads/57727-I-found-a-way-to-fix-broken-Achievements-for-the-GOG-version-of-the-Game!?p=1913949#post1913949
I wish it did. I followed all the steps but no achievements. Only Card Collector unlocked after I manually re-won my last card. Overlay-Notification also popped up for that one. But Mutant remains firmly broken, not to mention any of the story related ones.
Let's just wait when it becomes official and avoid the beta because it's beta for a reason :) I'm in no rush i play witcher 1 quest per day ... ^_^
I still can't fathom why anyone wants this kind of feature. The worth of achievements themselves is debatable, but one thing I know for sure: those notifications tend to be annoying at best. That's one feature I turn off immediately should it be available in a client software.

To you. You're making it sound like fact but it's just your opinion. Others like seeing the progress, the milestones, having targets to hit.
