1) changed the dates for 2.2.3 and 2.2.4 and 2.2.5 from DMY to MDY.
2) added a DMY date to 2.2.6 (had none).
3) added the 2.2.7 changelog with a DMY date.
WTF o_o

I could at least understand it if they went to YMD... this just seems wrong, though.

Probably to aid confused Americans (You know the kind that don't have passports and may never have crossed a state line or two.) who may not be aware that there even is a different way to write dates. =P

My guess is that there are two people involved. One who adds new data to the changelogs (upon patch release) and uses DMY and one who edits the existing changelogs and uses MDY.

I prefer the month to be spelled out (e.g. July 15, 2015 or 15 July 2015), just like GOG uses everywhere else (e.g. game pages, forum). Prevents confusion.

Probably as a result of our discussion, the Sanctuary RPG changelog has been modified a few hours ago to be DMY throughout. I wonder what will happen now to the other changelogs, most of which are now already MDY.

Dammit GOG, YYYY-MM-DD. Everyone views that the same.
avatar
Pidgeot: That seems to be the other way around; it's going *to* dd.mm.yy. In your example, 2.2.5 uses MDY; 2.2.6 uses DMY.
avatar
mrkgnao: Nevertheless, last week all the dates in the changelog were DMY.

Someone(s):
1) changed the dates for 2.2.3 and 2.2.4 and 2.2.5 from DMY to MDY.
2) added a DMY date to 2.2.6 (had none).
3) added the 2.2.7 changelog with a DMY date.

The statement I posted about the ongoing change from DMY to MDY is not based specifically on this changelog, but rather on tens of other changes to existing changelogs (which I do not report, as they are merely cosmetic, e.g. changing "version" to "patch", changing date formats, removing extra dashes, etc.).

Here is a consistent example from Screencheat:
NOTE! CHANGED Screencheat, changelog (http://www.an-ovel.com/downloads/chg/chg_1207666493.htm)
NOTE! RMV --- Patch 2.1.5 (08.07.2015):
NOTE! ADD +++ Patch 2.1.5 (07.08.2015)
NOTE! RMV --- Patch 2.1.3 (08.07.2015):
NOTE! ADD +++ Patch 2.1.3 (07.08.2015)
NOTE! RMV --- Patch 2.0 - The Omega:(01.05.2015)
NOTE! ADD +++ Patch 2.0 - The Omega:(05.01.2015)
They should just change them to YYYY-MM-DD (ISO 8601 international standard) and stick with that.

It has the added benefit that it's an unambiguous formatting. No other date format in the world uses that 4-2-2 layout separated by dashes.

They will go YYMMDDYY, or maybe YMDYDYMY, or they will switch to galatic dates, or, or...
*sigh*
