Update Infrastructure II - v114r3 (24 January 2019)

New Map Generation
- We've reworked map generation algorithm. Now distinct landmasses will be farther apart (no more landmasses separated by just 4 tiles). Additionally maps have a chance to spawn with shallow water rivers. Map island shapes should in general be more interesting. All landmasses are guaranteed to be above a certain tile count and wolves also won’t spawn on small landmasses. Finally, maps got a bit bigger! The number of build-able tiles increased by 20-30% per map size.

Wooden Gates
- These will match up better with wooden walls, and are cheaper than stone gates.

Stone Bridges
- These bridges fit together with stone roads and provide the same movement bonus. They are impassable by ship so be careful you don’t box in your transport ships. Viking ships can't pass through them or destroy them.

Fire Brigade
- You can augment the automatic volunteer peasant firefighters with actual firefighters who hang out at the Fire Brigade building until needed. These professional firefighters run very quickly and put out fires much quicker than normal peasants. With the right Fire Brigade placement, you’ll now be able to put out fires that would have destroyed buildings when the peasant volunteers were too far away to arrive in time.

Twitch Integration
- If you'd like, you can turn on streamer mode in the settings. A twitch icon will appear on the side of the screen, enter your username there, start streaming and viewers can vote on what befalls your kingdom: bonuses, disasters, and other events!

Tax Tweaks
- The tax rate used to go from 1 to 3. Now it can do half increments (so 0.5, 1, 1.5, etc). As a stylistic choice we’ve changed the display to show a percentage so if you had a tax rate set at 3, it’ll now show as 30%, but all the internal math will remain the same. This will allow you finer grain control over taxation vs. your kingdom’s happiness.

Windmill Bonus Tweak
- Windmill bonuses no longer stack with adjacent windmills and instead each does a flat +3 per tile. It turns out with overlapping bonuses a really strange formation of farms and windmills is optimal (long rows of windmills with a row of farms in between). We wanted to make it so you don't have pack windmills in a line to get optimal food output.

Other Improvements/Fixes
- For older mac users who weren’t able to see trees, you can now turn on ‘Mac Compatibility Mode’ in the settings to address that.
- Optimization pass
- Dragons are less punishing in terms of how many people they kill (especially large dragons)
- Stockpiles are treated as stone roads regarding peasant walk speed
- Added dirt under the stone roads so they match up with regular roads/gardens better
- Baker bakes faster (10s per bread from 15s)
- Right click now also deselects tower range UI
- Previously viking ships would phase through drawbridges, now the drawbridges go up when any ship comes through
- Display charcoal maker yearly output
- Reduced costs on castle blocks
- Tweak castle tower ballista/archer ranges
- Reservoirs can be built anywhere (ignores road territory)
- Fix issue where vikings spawned in creative mode wouldn’t always leave on their ships properly
- Fix mason not repairing walls
- Fix case where peasants could end up in deep water
- Fix case where doctors could end up in deep water/floating in air
- Fix garden not receiving adjaceny bonuses if under aqueduct
- Fix armies not able to stand in town squares
- Fix not being able to build castle blocks on top of a gate that had a garden underneath
- Fix issue where delivery workers could carry their goods with them if they switched jobs

Not sure I understand how this actually works. Do people post their choices on facebook via the site/app or through the game? Where is this data stored, i.e is it coded into the game or is it fetched over the Internet in real time?

Players login via Facebook, but choices data are stored at game developers' server.

They released an almost finalized copy to Kickstarter backers around Christmas and asked for everyone to submit any spelling/grammar mistakes they find. They said they'd release the finalized copy "after the holidays", but we're still waiting. i am a bit confused though because i was reading on kickstarter that higher tiers got (early) access to this but the lower tiers don't get it at all? is this correct? so a common person such as me gets this pretty awesome thing alongside high tier backers but lower tier backers get nothing?

There were supposed to be short stories that would be available to low tier Kickstarter backers and a graphic novel and other bonus materials that were supposed to be only available to Kickstarter backers. GOG shows that I will have access to the Journeys Birth short stories, even though I'm a Kickstarter backer, so all the Kickstarter extras are supposed to only be in my Humble Bundle account. I'm not sure what's up with that, since it's supposed to only be available to low tier Kickstarter backers. I'm not sure how they're going to deal with the fact that they've consolidated everything into one .pdf file. Will everyone get it, or only the Kickstarter backers? I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Patch 2.1 (28 January 2019)

- Added Japanese and Chinese (Traditional) language support
- Fixed a critical save bug that could get you permanently stuck in a dialogue after loading.
- Fixed a critical bug that prevented the game from saving any progress at all. It affected players with save data paths containing non-ascii characters.
- Game is autosaving more frequently, e.g after selling items, buying items, and after speaking with characters.
- Better save data backup support, making save files more resilient to corruption.
- Added support for more gamepads.

Update 4

Added a new level - Heskel's House of Horrors. This level is just one section of a zone in the final game. It is selectable after beating the Preview Campaign.
Added new weapon modes. Nearly all weapons have a secondary mode of use.
Added a new weapon - Currently named the Ion Bow. This weapon has 3 modes of fire: Single, Spread, and Overcharge. It appears in Heskel's House of Horrors.
Added 3 new enemies. These will appear in the level Heskel's House of Horrors.
Updated the behavior of some weapons to improve nuance, feedback, and balance.
Updated the Preview Campaign to reflect some of the newest changes to weapons and items.
Improved HUD feedback to smooth the experience.
Added new Mega Health items. Pizza and Addictive Soda can be consumed for a small health boost that can go above 100%.
Added the ability to use soda machines. They will now dispense up to 5 cans of Addictive Soda.
Added a new difficulty mode - Maximum Violence. This mode is even more challenging than Ultra Viscera and is only for skilled players.
Updated Queen of the Hill. Improved the flow of each wave, and tweaked the scoring system. Your old top score may be reset.
Basic texture fixing on levels along with eliminating some placeholder enemy locations.
Added a new powerup - Currently titled Bomb Rush. 30 Seconds of infinite bombs. This powerup appears in the new level.
Massively improve performance. The game's logic has been tweaked allowing for more than double the performance in some scenarios.
Improved enemy logic, and increased the range on the Warmech's machine gun.
Allow for greater tweaking to framerate limiter, including allowing the limit to be offset for use with Fast Sync or slightly odd monitor timings.

Tweaked Ion Bow primary fire timing and improved feedback on alt fire overcharge timing.
Increased stun effect on enemies from Ion Bow use.
Adjusted stopping power of Ion Bow and Disperser Shotgun.
Fixed a bug which could cause the Bowling Bomb not to lock on a target. Also decreased Bowling Bomb charge time before lock on ability is granted.
Improved HUD feedback and target icon for Loverboy alt fire.
Improved flame effect on Penetrator.
Fixed a bug that could cause a lock up or application crash.
Fixed a bug that would cause certain map effects to stop responding.
Fixed a bug that would cause certain sounds to be missing.
Misc tweaks and bug fixes.
