LeonardoCornejo: Regarding Brianna Wu running for congress.

Damn. That... thing is like a paragon of corruption, deception, and insanity.
Wonderful. Now all she/him has to do is go register on the opposite ticket with his/her first male name, that way she can run against herself. That should make for an entertaining debate.
avatar
XyleDaylight: There's still a lot of unethical practices going on in game journalism so until their 'obsession' with corruption, lying, cronyism (etc) deflates then the opposition for that won't either.
avatar
Red_Avatar: I think game journalism is dead or at least dying. On forums I visit, people used to post links all the time to gaming news websites. Instead they now post to the actual source of the news - Twitter, Facebook, Youtube or smaller news outlets that aren't involved in the Gamergate scandal. And IF they post a link to one of those sites, they use an archive link.

Ah well if those sites die, it's no big loss. Their "news" was useless anyway. Most of them were afraid to speak out against publishers because they those same publishers were balls deep inside their asses with ad revenue.
Mainstream news outlets in general are dying. They killed themselves by spreading lies.

saucerman1947: People still care about Gamergate and still follow people like Wu? Seems a bit obsessed.
I see that you don't check the number of days between posts.
Kiwi Farms is dead : http://heatst.com/tech/notorious-forum-kiwi-farms-closed-following-alleged-harassment-of-founders-family/
TLDR ; founder was forced to close down the forum after harassment of him and many family members. Harassment forum forced shut down because of harassment.

Obviously nothing of value was lost, but I don't think anything was gained here.
Barely related to gamergate, but there is another subculture that is facing a "X is Y" season. This subculture was once targeted by no other than Fox News and has a lower social approval than gamers. I am talking about bronies. Early this year BuzzFeed launched a hitpiece about them (us in my case) regarding the pornographic content within the fandom.

And a few days ago, this guy Steve Harvey made an interview ridiculing us, obviously he picked a rather silly guy and unfairly treated him like a total freak.

Now, it is too much of a coincidence that both showed up in such a short time span. If I may say, I think they are trying to make a "bronies are creeps" narrative, just like they pulled the "gamers are dead" narrative in an attempt to make gamers cave in. The bad news is that bronies are weaker in many ways to gamers and might be successfully shamed into submission.

I will leave the video for you to watch.

The users on that site were religious about archiving everything; I do not doubt that the kiwi farms will be back under new management. It was not so much a harassment forum as it was a website for gossiping about internet nobodies. While raids and harassing people were not officially condoned by the management but the extent and level of detail these people could find on others got really creepy. The users were not above playing with their "lolcows." I am not surprised that they finally pissed off the wrong people.

That video is disgusting. Sad to see so many people preach for an open accepting society yet there are shows like these that invite people on to be laughed at like circus freaks. Its just the guys on TV finding a group that is OK to shame and making these cringy shows covering them. I like how they invited a psychologist along as well. As if liking a TV show is a mental disorder now. If anyone tries to shame me about what media I like, I'd ask them where their non-prejudiced, accepting, tolerant mindset suddenly disappeared to.

I don't think they're colluding to release pieces on bronies, but I do think they're exploiting niche subcultures to shame them and profit off of it.

Also, psychology as a science is rapidly losing credibility to me. Maybe Scientology had a point.

Yeah it was a ''gossip'' site on paper and as per the management, but then again so was Gawker. Don't forget that they had threads counting days from when the last time one of their ''lolcows'' said they were going to kill themselves. Also they regularly doxxed people. The owner can probably sell the site someone worse, and it will probably continue under the new sick fuck's management. But you are correct in that the site isn't down for good. I've read some of it and they're very determined people.

The true SJW nature. They claim to support acceptance and freedom until it is something they can't profit with. Then they will treat you like a circus freak. I will keep an eye on the situation, just in case it turns out to be another bullying campaign. You know what is the ugliest part? Bronies actually believed it would be a good thing, they believed they would finally get positive attention, only to be humiliated on TV and treated as if they were insane by a charlatan with a degree.

Average intolerant pricks laughing about someone they don't understand, nothing new.
They find victims everywhere where there is someone who isn't perfectly streamlined.

PS: I like his destruction derby paint jobs, they certainly stand out. ;)
In case you didn't know. Mei, from Overwatch, turned out to be what any reasonable human assumed, not obese, not even fat. And yes, morbidly obese SJWs are triggered by it.
The FBI has officially archived and published their investigation into the GamerGate controversy that reveals the threats amounted to nothing more than memes, shitposts and false flags originating from Something Awful. The FBI should open a Patreon for the agents that worked this case, poor bastards.

https://twitter.com/FBIRecordsVault/status/824693431100329984

The document is heavily redacted but understandable if you've been following this travesty of social interaction for the past 2 and a half years.

Was that the right link? It contains a list of the cases with most of the info blocked out and no information about their investigation. Though again, I just skimmed.

Still, false flags were a problem we didn't discuss back then, and you'd think these poor harassed victims would be punctual in doing that at least.
I guess a PILE of gaming sites and SJW journalists just got exposed as frauds just now. That FBI file debunks a TON of articles I have seen bashing Gamergate.

This has to be an ultimate fail of sorts.

That's what happens when the media uses two activists as sources to "confirm a story". This is what is currently wrong with the media. They do not fact check anymore. Any two people confirming a story supposedly makes it credible now.
One of those bomb threats the Great Anita was milking for months got debunked as well. "A very real and serious threat to my life" she called.

Looking at the file it was some guy saying he had placed over 7000 bombs at the school where she was to talk about feminism in games....7000 thousand bombs...yeah. Very very believable.
