adikad13000: Yeah, right like mods not working now for Witcher 1 now? What is the mod then? Because I haven't encountered a SINGLE one which is broken. What language do you play ? Have you checked the mod supports it? How do I know it wasn't YOU who broke the game? Especially one which has been in a poor technical state ever since it released back in 2007! Why on earth would you complain about mods on a digital store forum? That makes zero sense.
Again: Witcher 1 has NOT been killed by the preservation program, because there're people who have no performance issues tied to whatever GOG has changed even with mods installed.
Let's not get into the fact that even BEFORE these changes Witcher 1 has ALWAYS been prone to CTD during later chapters. Or what about the fact that it's always run poorly on some CPU setups due to so many NPCs being present on your screen.
RekontVerlon: In the case of mods, I was talking about Dragon Age. In the comments to the mod, they write that it doesn't work on the GoG version due to a core limitation.
https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/mods/6435 There are also comments on the forum about The Witcher 1's terrible performance after limiting cores. The first Witcher worked perfectly for me without any core limitation; I played for 80 hours with stable FPS and no crashes. Now that I've played the 'improved' version of Dragon Age, I'm inclined to believe people who write about problems with The Witcher on the game's forum.
Once again, this issue has been discussed before, and in this thread, just because some processors don't have issues doesn't mean everyone doesn't have problems.
Overall, I'm no longer interested in your baseless assertions and attacks. I want to hear something from Gog's support on this issue.
Gog, how many years will it take for the situation to be corrected?
Yeah somehow YOUR experience invalidates my experience, not to mention it's a baseless attack now! Great argument. Also, who cares if other people talked about this on this forum? You do realize I also posted in this thread before? How is this even an argument?
Why would I comment on Dragon Age and why do you keep bringing that up when I didn't even addressed that in any of my posts?
Who said I don't believe the comments based on the performance on these games, I didn't commented on that. Dragon Age has had CTD issues for years now, Witcher 1 has had issues for years now, of course I would call out these claims.
On the Dragon Age mods part, I don't know which mods are you talking about, I finished a modded playthrough just before the preservation update and I have had serious CTD issues in that build. And the playthrough before. Or like in the below mentiond thread from 2018:
https://www.gog.com/forum/dragon_age_origins_ultimate_edition/denerim_crashes_workaround I could dig up older ones and not just from this forum, but ultimately it's pointless, especially if you factor in the usage of mods to begin with. The same goes for Witcher 1 and the way people are dismissing these facts here.
Why has almost nobody commented on the fact the the preservation program didn't solve these issues in the first place or almost nobody wonder if it even meant to resolve them in the first place?
What response did you expect, if you bring up issues existing for LONG YEARS and present them they're somehow new ones?
Once again, Witcher 1 behaves the same as before in terms of performance, it took like 1 minute for me to look up a thread from 15 years ago talking about how unoptimized this game is etc and there's even more, even on the GOG forums the very same thing.
