The teaser trailer is out now, Lando makes an appearance, and the Emperor's ominous laughter can be heard at the end, not too much else teased just yet. My jump-to-conclusion is that Rey is a Skywalker, and that Kylo Ren was lying to her about her lineage, but I expect it'll be some different twist.

This is probably going to be an all out Star Wars slam thread but fuck those people.

I love the movies, even the not so great ones, and I'm really looking forward to this.

Yeah, even the worst ones are pretty ok... but I still wish Disney did a better job at them :-(

Disney trilogy is trash.

I swear Star wars fans are some of the dumbest people on the planet.
After the disaster dumpster fire that the last jedi was, lots of fans said they are DONE with star wars.
It just took one laugh from palpatine to get them back on board.
Disney will pump out another garbage waste of money, and idiot fanboys will buy it. Pathetic.

I hope the empire wins and builds a thousand new death stars, Rey gets enslaved by some Jabba the Hutt clone, and all those disgusting wookies, ewoks and Gungans are painfully exterminated by storm troopers employing cool new imperial technology.
Real world is so depressing, the good guys should at least win in the movies.

When Rey started sprinting I laughed.
When she did the flip I got hyped.
And then it was the typical boring Disney stuff.

And that's all. All Disney Star Wars movies have been boring to me because I am one of those apparently braindamaged Prequel lovers who loved the stupid flips, pointless politics and SICK fight choreographies... Which is the complete opposite of what these last boring Star Wars movies have been.

The only one I liked so far was Rogue One, and even that didn't reach the HEIGHTS of Episode 1's batshit insane storytelling by way of flips, poopie humor and CGI goodness. Not even close... :(

EDIT: Of course I liked the Original Trilogy too... I am just not going to say anything about how I'd rank these alongside the Prequels... sprints away from forum users in tie fighters

I see a lot of comments on the reddit threads attributing that laugh to Palpatine. It would be really weird if they actually bring him back. A bit of a slap in the face of Darth Vader's redemption in VI?

Keep in mind that Kylo Ren is a Skywalker, this could be a movie about his redemption.

JJ Abrams confirmed on Twitter that it was indeed Palpatine and that he was surprised nobody leaked Ian McDiarmid was on the set.

It would fit quite well if Palpatine tried to corrupt another Skywalker and failed yet again.

Ugh ok, surprisingly easy to survive to survive falling immense vertical distances in SW it seems. Wait! Perhaps Mace Windu is still alive then!

Main thing about Anakin's redemption was that he didn't kill Luke and helped him in decisive battle. Palpatine, if he will return, will likely be Force Ghost - I think he has been in such capacity in some Legendary Canon comics.

Anyway, Palpatine or no, TFA and TLJ messed with the canon enough for me to completely lose interest in what will happen to the cast.
