One of the most anticipated games – S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl from GSC Game World – has just dropped a new trailer!

We absolutely cannot wait to play this open world, post-apocalyptic survival FPS and a new entry in the iconic S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series. However, we truly believe that the wait will be completely worth it.

For now, let's enjoy this new trailer for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl.

RawSteelUT: Or

Dude could be some outsider. Would be interesting story-wise, some guy thinks he's hard as fuck, but has no idea what he's getting into.

Sachys: Yeah i think if it were explicitly a merc from the start (like scar) it MIGHT fit, but why american, and not german, italian, turkish etc.
My distaste comes from the feeling of it going a wee bit "must have an american hero!" cliche and how it will affect the story (potentially even gameplay - so far it seems rather more shooter than the somewhat immersive sim the fans like).

I'll still await and see what the final product is of course. Clear Sky wasnt all bad.
Well this IS a trailer. They're going to show the most crazy/intense parts. It's all about making the game look awesome.

As for the American hero cliche, I get you. It seems to always be an American by default, which is especially odd given it's not an American developer (that would make sense at least). I mean, they could throw a curve and call him Canadian or something... Though he doesn't seem polite enough. :P However, the American soldier seems to be the most easy for people to write, maybe because of the stereotypical gun-toting American image people tend to have...
If you have any reasonable QA expectations,
then brace yourself for deep disappointment.

ussnorway: yes i was thinking the same... why the fuck is Americans running around chornobyl?
Well, there are many Americans (USA) in Ukrayne, so... ask the US of A president's son.
So it is absolutely right that the main character is an American figure. ;)
i was under the impression that all earlier footage was in-game. this still looks fine (and no doubt modders will do wonders), but this is quite away from what has been shown in the past. i hope it's still a STALKER at heart at least.
although having an American protaginist seems out of place considering the setting.

Haters gonna hate, waiters gonna wait.
Why not just put in Germans with German accents in Black Myth: Wukong as well because who give a shite about immersion and where the story is actually unfolding. I mean, even the local radio is voiced in an American accent.

For that price I absolutely expect them to do better but seeing people hailing mediocrity as the new norm I'm not hopeful. But, we'll see. XD
I admit I don't quite understand now what people are complaining about. That the protagonist in the trailer speaks English and not Ukrainian, or that he speaks English with an American accent when he should speak it with Ukrainian accent? Or something else?

Meh, I couldn't care less.

I don't get it either - it's the international trailer and therefore the english voice over is used?
As long as the finished game is going to have proper voice over in Ukrainian (which it does, according to the store page) I couldn't care less.

Proper Ukrainian (with realworld cuss words and shit) with English subtitles would be my preferred choice to play.

Unfortunately I have to admit though, I prefer watching e.g. Princess Mononoke (Mononoke Hime) with English voices, not the original Japanese. The Japanese voice acting just seems a bit weird to me, and the English voice acting in that animated movie just feels more natural to me. Then again it doesn't really matter that much I guess as it is indeed an animated movie, so the Japanese voices don't seem to have any advantage with better lipsync or whatever, even if they could be considered more authentic I guess.

Then again it is a fantasy world so maybe the Japanese have just adopted the English language in that world? If Indians and Singaporeans could learn it, I'm sure Japanese could too! Even I did! Woohoo, winner winner chicken dinner!

Sachys: Why the hell do we have an American sounding player character?

Urf!
Probably because the vast majority of players will play it with "language set to (American) English"?

I know, that's what I will do, if I ever buy the game.

Now - if they also would add German VO, I would probably choose that (if I find the quality is good enough), but there's no way I would set the audio to Ukrainian, with German (or English) subtitles.

Because, doing that, wouldn't enrich my personal gaming experience.
Rather the opposite.

YMMV, of course.

Nothing wrong with a german language vo for german players.
Can't wait for this game <3
