How to get all this? First, log in to GOG GALAXY 2.0 (you can install it from here, if you haven’t already). Once you’re on the “Recent” screen, click on the “Share stats” button at the top - you’ll get redirected to a page with your gaming stats and the option to download Morano’s set of wallpapers. While admiring its neat style, you can also check on this unique artist’s profile we've also published today.

OK, now that you’re looking at your gaming stats from GOG GALAXY - here comes the fun part! If you want to join our contest and win 1 out of 100 games like Blade Runner, DUSK, Dragon Age: Origins or GreedFall, just share your gaming stats using GOG GALAXY 2.0 on one of the available social media channels (FB, Twitter, VK). To qualify for our contest, the post must include a short, witty description of your gaming profile, based on the stats you share, and a hashtag #GOGALAXYstats. We promise to check all the answers and award the most creative ones with games!

Take the chance to show the world what kind of gamer you really are! The “share your stats” contest will last from 7th August 2020, 1 PM UTC, until 14th August 2020, 1 PM UTC. Terms and conditions apply. You can check them in the first comment on the forum.

paladin181: Well, that's the point, innit? The constant flow of pure garbage versus a bad day or two at times here. Just like a few other small isolated communities I like being part of, they aren't flooded with trash day in and day out. It's like a beach filled with garbage and trash versus one that has the occasional random piece of litter wash up. Which would you prefer?
To be fair I am a glass half full kind of guy, so either one would be fine as i'd make the best of what I was given. But I see your point.

That said, I was more trying to allude to the old adage of "He/she who lives in a glass house shouldn't throw stones" with regards to the "GOG is so great, social media is so much trash" sort of generalizations i've seen on GOG recently and over the years.

(I have found good content and civil discourse on social media sites as well.....it's not always as bad as it's made out to be[it varies from section to section....some parts can be trash strewn while others can be near trash free])

AB2012: And that ignores the pointlessness of things like measuring gameplay time of old games that long predate the client doing the measuring (ie, what's the point of me playing Doom on Galaxy for 50hrs to "show the world" when the +1,000 gameplay hours of the disc versions.
To be fair the option to measure gameplay time on the Galaxy 2.0 doesn't work at all for some new games. I have been playing over 10 hours of Stellaris in last two weeks and Galaxy hasn't logged one minute even though everything is set up right. And Galaxy 2.0 still doesn't have an offline mode, if you loose internet connection its very possible you won't able to use Galaxy to launch games as usual. Younger people who never used anything but a launcher will have a hard time to figure out how to launch games manually.

Edit: I won't be partaking in this. I do use Facebook but only for communication with friends or for work purposes.

GameRacer: Tbh I think the way some on such sites act is sometimes not much worse than some posts made here(on gog forums, I mean) by some others.

Which is why i find it ironic when some users then go on to say how bad social media is and how good GOG forums are.
(social media is "bad", in some ways, but some users and posts on this forum are no better sometimes....especially in how some react to some topics)

---------------

(To everyone reading: Please note I am not trying to put anyone down by saying that....just musing that GOG forums are not always perfect and can sometimes be as bad as some social media)

Why do you want to know? To be authorized to know, you first would to have to pass a test proving that you can handle being on a clean beach without giving into the urge to immediately litter and that you don't go full postal on the mere sight of nude humans...
A friend told me about this super-obscure giveaway:

Giveaway will end 14th August 2020, 2 PM UTC.

Well, i'll post the stats of a friend of mine. Since those are technically not my stats, i am surely ineligible for the draw.

(No, seriously, i don't need/want a game. There will be other who will be happy to win a game, and it wouldn't be fair for me to steal their chance despite me not wanting a game. I just couldn't resist the invitation to photoshop something (: )

I want proof such a place exists. I remember back when gamefaqs was coming to fruitition, and i was on it's main rival site (gametalk.com), but even that site was full of furry pedophiles on the mod staff (one of the mods regularly showed me screenshots proving it and also liked to send me porn on aim when i was like 12 years old [he was much older: ok, maybe he wasn't a pedo, but it sure was strange that he liked sending a young child naughty things], but was a pretty cool dude otherwise). Not all the mods were like that, though, and i don't know the exact ratio or how serious it was. Maybe ask Rhonda Rousey, she was one of the mods.

Still, that site was better than what gamefaqs became. You didn't get banned for having the wrong opinion, but instead usually for spamming, impersonating (site was vulnerable to the iL trick, since it used Ariel, and it also had a bug where a null pointer bypassed password checks so you could simply delete the password field from an HTML form to post as other people), or bypassing the cussing filter (was a site for kids, after all). That was back when the trash on the internet was still somewhat wholesome. But, even then, every beach was dirty.

EDIT: My point being, i just don't believe you. One does not simply get on the internet without getting dung flung at you (which is what makes all this political BS about group X leaving group Y nasty comments on twitter is so ridiculous). I've just adopted the strategy that i'd rather people learn how to use a filter to filter out trash rather than someone making decisions for me what i don't want to see. Not that it was the point of the whole thing, but it is the inevitable conclusion of such discussion.

I been playing since I was a kid. I'm now retired. So now I have all the time in the world to play the games I was able to purchase when I was earning an income.

I guess I'm not a true gamer then, since this Galaxy "app" (who calls desktop programs "apps" anyway?), would have shown 0 hours played. It would have, if I ever bothered to install it and that's not something that I intend to do.
And then I guess I am even more casual for not using any sort of social media to brag about my "stats" (or not using them at all in the first place).

Come on GOG. You know the preferences of your forum regulars - you knew how this thread would end up ;-). It might have been a better idea not to post this on the forum and just leave it at these social media.

Absolutely not.

Install Galaxy? - No.
Log in to Galaxy? ... Not possible, since I'm never going to install it.
Drop your pants for one of the 'social' data mining companies? ... No. Shame on you, GOG!

Absolutely not.
BTW, I love Gog Galaxy. it's great to have a single launcher for all my games on all my PC platforms. It could use some minor work when it comes to sorting my game library but that should be easy to implement.

That said, I'm not going to share my stats on twitter because somethings should be left hidden.

1076 Games Owned
4,352 Achievements
11,575 hours played.
Hi, I guess I'm the type of gamer who don't like to play without some flexibility, so without modding support for example. I played most of my video games on PC and I think this will be the way to me always. I like DRM-FREE games too, one of the reason I like GOG so much too. I also in story-driven games mostly. Especially, I interested in open-world, Single Player games so The Witcher games & Cyberpunk 2077 just perfectly suit me too! :)

Keep up the great work!

Oh, & my stats so far yet:

1378 games owned

910 achievements

3063 hours played

#GOGALAXYstats

Hint: I just changed my name from hedzsooo recently, sorry! :D
