And there it is – Sacred 2 Remaster is OUT NOW on GOG!

Step into the world of Ancaria as one of seven heroes. Explore a massive open world and master combat arts and spells for epic loot. This remaster brings a fan-favorite back to life – with hi-res textures, better combat, and bugfixes, for longtime fans and newcomers alike.

Check it out!
Remasters haven't really had the best reputation since they became a thing, between missing effects, gameplay changes, omitted music, and the like; but they were at least functional for a while.

These days, it feels like publishers' approach is, "yo, this is a broken pile of shit. Drop it". And people continue to lap it up, because gamers don't seem to have any goddamn standards, so of course we'll continue to see this race to the bottom accelerate.

At least they bundled the real game with this turd, even if now people have to pay a premium. But both the dev team and the publisher should know: this is a piss poor product, and you should have done a better job.

JomVanFliet: Did you really have to delist and instead bundle Sacred 2 Gold with the Remaster, THQ Nordic?
Not cool.
...while, as a comparison, Syberia wasn't delisted at the publishing of its remaster.

the takeway is that this is somewhar a normalized sales strategy ergo the lesson might that when a new remaster is announced/coming the og version just in case.

-- except broken sword, please someone stop financing the remakes! :D give it a rest!

to me it just makes me want to get the bundle 10yr later at the same price that the original was....the power of backlog is that there is always something to do and focus time/attention and wallet wanders elsewhere

EDIT:
Blood will also have a new version soon.... https://www.gog.com/en/game/blood_refreshed_supply where the og will be included, will the og be delisted? :p

The pre-order concept is funny already but also find amusing that a game that is up for 66% discount before being available...this timeline is hilarious :)

Disappointing direction, I can't see them salvaging this beyond some hotfixes. I'm not too optimistic about a Sacred 1 remaster too..

RPGFanboy: So is this missing multiplayer?
avatar
idbeholdME: Invite only.

From top Steam reviews:

No Free Play so YOU CANT FARM BOSSES, only kill them once.
No Multiplayer Lobby (invite only)
No Offline Multiplayer (LAN Mode)
No Trade Menu
Cannot Move While Inventory open
No Rune Stacking
No PvP options.
Inventory Icons look awful
Less inventory space
Less skill slots
Less weapon slots
Only 2 relic sets instead of 4

Add to that crashes, completely removed PhysX elements, consolified shitty UI and camera controls along with tons of unfixed bugs that community mods have fixed ages ago to complete the package. There are also some complaints about unrebindable/removed controls and stupidly changed controller layouts compared to the original console version.

As it is, nobody should buy this until it receives some heavy patching. And of course, the original has been bundled under the remaster with no way of buying it separately anymore, which is another con.
Yikes! o,O I wasn't planning in buying it, but - YIKES?? Really makes you wonder if anyone working on that remaster ever played that game -.-

Mori_Yuki: Without dynamic pricing, the Sacred 2 Remaster offers little value to owners of the original, if any at all. Judging by the negative reviews and the content that was removed, stripped, or altered, it falls short of expectations and so isn't worth it for me.
I started playing Sacred 2 Gold prior to the Remaster coming out so I would have a comparison.

Honestly, the original holds up well. I run it on Linux (CachyOS), and had no problems with either installing it, or adding the community patch. Didn't need to rummage in the ini files, didn't need to juggle outdated .dlls. Just worked.

So, when I read that the Remaster apparently does away with a lot of things (like relic sets, weapon slots, physics effects), basically looks the same as the OG (which does not look bad at all with the community patch!), and allegedly used AI (upscaling? image generation? Don't know) for some art work...

20€ for a side-/downgrade?

I think I'll be keeping that money for the Outlaws remaster, because that game would have benefitted from a visual upgrade even when it came out.
