That is one broken url link. :P
Chandra was trying to direct people to this.

But yes, the forum hyperlink function really needs fixing ... but I doubt I will live long enough to witness this ;)

I'm glad i'm not the only one that the URL fuction seems to have a mind of its own for.

Fixing? Ha! It'd be better to just replace the entire forum wholesale rather than fixing anything in this broken-ass old mess. Knowing how competent GOG is at introducing new features, it might end up being even worse though. =/

CraigGen_1970: While not Duke, what about Serious Sam ?
Serious Sam doesn't have enough misogyny. Plus, gameplay-wise they are completely different.

Completely different ? I don't think you have played both.
Duke Nukem and Serious Sam have both single-handedly saved the earth from aliens, only the themes are different.
Both are one-man wise-cracking characters.
Both games are first person shooters. Both games feature over-the-top weapons.

Heck, you only have to google "duke nukem vs serious sam" to see posts talking about similarities, and who would win in a fight.

I think what samuraigaiden is trying to say is that they have different dynamics. In Sam you kill hordes of aliens, occasionally coming on simple puzzle or boss. In Duke (at least Duke 3D) enemies are appearing in smaller groups or one by one.

Duke had/has way better backgrounds, which makes a difference for me, no so much for others.
IMO, every area in Sam looks virtually the same, and there is next to no interaction with it.

While I sort of agree, you can't say they're completely different games. Thats like saying Fifa and Pro Evolution Soccer, are completely different because the physics of Pro Evo is better, even though they're both Football games. To me, completely different would be Fifa to American Football.

Personally, I much prefer Serious Sam's Ancient Egyptian style themes to Duke's more modern theme.

About sexisim, let me share what happened to me a few months ago.

I was talking to a girl and she refused to be called "woman" because it had "man" in it. She found the word sexist and stated that they don't woo men....

So I asked her what she would like to be called. She said "Female"...

LOL.

Of Course I kept my laughter inside. She obviously had not thought that through. After which I believe 30 minutes, she recognized her mistake and tried to cleverly say that even the word "Female" is sexist. I nodded. I gave her space as she tried to come up with a word that she would like to be called. I believe I heard her talking to herself "Lady?... nah..."

So just an end note to all the ladies out there. I am ready to call you however you like as long as you make up your mind :)

You are demaniding for them to make up their mind? How sexist! XD

This exactly.

Duke 3D was about exploration - both horizontal and vertical - and levels were full of tight spaces. The puzzle aspect was also much more present, with entire levels being designed like mazes with switches you had to randomly push to try and figure out how to go forward.

Serious Sam is a lot closer to Painkiller and other wave based shooters. The similarities with Duke are mostly aesthetic.

No, no, no. It's like saying Call of Duty and Arma are not the same kind of game despite the fact they are both military-themed FPS games.

Which is true, they are completely different types of military-themed FPS games.
