For quite some time now, the review system on our platform hasn’t been ideal. And we know just how important reviews are, both for discovering new games and for sharing your own experiences with them.

That’s why we’re excited to announce that we’ve rebuilt the review system to make it clearer, easier to use, and more helpful for everyone.

So, what’s new?

Edit or delete your reviews anytime (with timestamps to keep changes transparent).

Better summaries with rating breakdowns at a glance.

Your own review is always pinned on top, so you can find it right away.

A dedicated “Reviews” tab on your profile (with the option to make it visible or hidden).

Up to 8,000 characters per review, plus better formatting, smoother scrolling, and dark mode support.

Improved reporting flow to help keep reviews fair and constructive.

We hope you’ll enjoy these changes and that they’ll inspire you to write more reviews, or even post your very first one!

Check out your new “Reviews” tab HERE.

tfishell: You'll just need patience, and then sort by most recent reviews and look for reviews under 5 stars, and of course can checkmark looking only at owner reviews.
No, no, nonono... i'm talking about 5 stars rating without leaving review.

Also you mentioned "non GOG owners can still add insightful things", yeah that buy >insert scam here< was very insightful review indeed. Also how can you tell what non-owner refunded the game?

Just stop, stop defending unverified reviews, steam only allows owners to post reviews and that's fair, buy first then review.

Breja: God, not this again. We have it too, only better - you can see non-owner reviews or not. Up to everyone's individual choice, without forcing your prefrence on everyone else.

00063: Already covered this in a different thread and i'm done!
All i'm going to add is that i'm sick of seeing 5 stars the same moment the game is released here!
As I've already said - GOG often gets games late, and there's plenty of users here who also buy games elsewhere. There is nothing wrong with them giving their opinion as soon as the game releases here. In fact, I think it should be considered beneficial. Anyway, no one is forcing you to follow their recommendations, or even to read them, as you can easily filter them out.

How is something you can permanently hide with one click a problem? Why should your choice be forced on others? You could as well demand whatever tags you show or hide when browsing the store be permanently set the same for everyone here.

There's plenty of worthless "reviews" from owners too, you know.

I don't give a flying florg what Steam does, and I would appreciate it if you'd stop trying to decide for others what reviews they are allowed to have access to, just because you don't like them even though you can just hide them.

Cool
Bravo! This was badly needed as your opinon or score would be locked in forever.

Theres plenty of games which i rated low or high and after revisting I've changed my mind.

Now i can adjust this.

Enjoy reading fairy tales from people who never even played the game. I'm gonna get my information from a reliable source thank you very much.
Wow, finally! Thank you!

Yes! Please do! That is all I ask. Read whatever reviews you like and let me do the same. Thank you, I'm glad we could reach this understanding.

A lot of people are not gonna buy the same game again but want to sing the games praises, I mean the stores name is literally Good Old Games, and there's a filter no? One click away from un-bias reviews. If you care enough to have DRM free games and look through reviews it's not that crazy imo to click a single toggle.

angelblue: I am delighted to have been able to contribute (along with others) to the implementation of the new system. I sincerely hope that the community will take advantage of it to correct certain assessments that are no longer really justified today.

tfishell: I gotta give GOG credit because this could actually lower review scores in some cases, like if an old game doesn't run on a person's new machine and they update their review and star rating to reflect this. But GOG did still implement these features, bravo.
What he’s referring to is that when a game has no reviews, it automatically shows as five stars. The first score is not calculated, it’s just given the maximum by default. A better system would be to leave it unrated until there are enough reviews to calculate an average user score, as other stores do.

You don't need to play a game to review it. You could watch a lets play on youtube.
If i review something that i watched someone play why would my review be invalid?
Well better 15 years late than never I suppose.

Thank you for giving us the ability to delete reviews.

I left a review ages ago on the first Witcher game, it was negative 1 star review, but the way I wrote it just came off that I had my head stuck up my ass....... the game is clearly a 2 star game at most :)
Great news. This will do lore devs bring their games here, without risking to an early (and permanent) bad rating. This should be priority numer one. And I would ask: allow to delete games you own. I think it's a win/win. User can have a clean library. I would try more demos here instead using other store that I have inly for that purpose. And maybe this is unpopular, but if you have less games to replay, you may purchase more

Because you have had no actual experience of playing the game? A bewildering idea, I have to say. That's like writing a review of a book you haven't read based on looking at the cover and having someone describe the plot and give you their impressions.
Off Topic. Does anyone know a gog forum for updating the section of games under only on gog?

There's so many games that are never added.
