MP3 soundtrack? Come on, guys, if you're going to sell it separately (which I am perfectly fine with), please do it right and make it lossless...

Yeah, we sound nerds agree!
What exactly is the deal with FLAC?

Edit: So GOG is finally selling soundtracks? I ended up buying the Chroma Squad OST when it was on sale at Humble for $1.24. I would have much rather preferred to get it here.

How can something become "more complete"? Just a pet peeve of mine ;)
No you jackasses, it didn't become 'more complete' since you're selling it as a separate product.

its a simple placebo effect :) you think that the track sounds better, but you listen to the same mp3 just filled with extra dummy data to make it bigger

Yeah, I wanted to see if the people spouting how wonderful it is were arguing that it sounds better (the difference between expensive and inexpensive wine) or if they're creating some eternal data storage space.

I guess I can understand it from a data storage perspective. Similar to saving the installers on a USB drive.

if you have proper audio gear the difference is like day and night. ofc even with gear some people just aren't picky/trained enough to hear the actual difference though.

my experience is that it heavily depends on the track.

also is there a way to proof that i really get an flac version of a track and not get tricked (mp3 file with dummy data to enlarge the size)?

Not all ears are created equal, nor is MP3 by any means the best lossy format one can choose. Even when MP3 was designed it was demonstrably inferior to MP2; it was just a lot smaller, which was important in 1995. Anyway, I often find myself converting audio to various formats to suit various hardware or software constraints. Generational quality loss is no fiction.

Not everyone is looking for a placebo.

FLAC is what starts flying through the forums when only lossy MP3 soundtracks are made available.... oh wait, that's FLAK. (/me ducks)

Gonna go with unlikable opinion, but... It looks like a quick and easy cash grab from the developers (Greed!).
5$ for soundtrack and digital art books? That's 1/4 of the game cost!

I call this move a bullshit one, they should have released it for free for owners of "Trine 2 Complete Story". Game is over 2 years old by now.

If it isn't a cheap attempt for cash grabbing, I don't know what is.

If they would have showed good will and released it for free for the owners of the game I would have pre-ordered Trine 3 on the spot to show support. Just like I did with Witcher 3.

I understand new game are doing this shit with thiers "Extremely full, enhanced and complete edition" of their newly released games to earn easy $$$ (Who doesn't want that special and limited costume that comes with the most expansive edition of the game, huh? HUH???) but at least they bundle it with game itself and not separating it to nickle and dime collectors and people who love this.

Arrr.... This annoys me so much.

TL:DR
I call it a d*** move from the developers to release theirs leftovers they had of a 2 years old game and put a 5$ price tag on it (1/4 of the price of the game), while adding nothing to the game itself. A slap to the face for people who purchased the "Complete Story" edition of the game. - Should have been released for free for owners.

--- Rant over :/

Doesn't that depend on how much you compress the audio?
I have a really good hearing and to me low sound quality (such as music compressed by iTunes played with proper audio gear) is unacceptable.
I haven't got a problem with the MP3 files I create myself, though...

Edit: To clarify, there is probably an audible difference if the original file's sound quality was great enough to begin with.
