Star Wars™ Knights of the Old Republic™ II: The Sith Lords™, an Obsidian developed sequel to one of the most critically acclaimed RPGs of all time, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 20% launch discount!

Star Wars™ Knights of the Old Republic™ II: The Sith Lords™ is set five years after the events of Knights of the Old Republic™, offering a much darker and more mature take on the period of galactic turmoil introduced with the first game. The Jedi are all but exterminated, fallen in the hands of powerful Sith Lords. You would be too - had you not been exiled for horrible war crimes against the order, your link to the Force completely severed. You drift, broken, across unknown space as the terrifying Sith threat returns to finish what they have begun. You will be made to question everything you know about Jedi and the Sith, as you strike back and touch the Force for one last time. The rest is your own history...

Star Wars™ Knights of the Old Republic™ II: The Sith Lords™ offers a chance to experience the grit and darkness of the Star Wars™ universe. Available DRM-free for Windows, now on GOG.com! The 20% launch discount will last for 72 hours until Friday, January 23, at 1:59 PM GMT.
amusingly i failed the operating system requirements for kotor 1, but not kotor 2, and got the same video warning for both kotor 1 and 2.

"video (you do not meet the recommended specs for the listed item, but still meet the minimum requirements) warning

(null) 512MB
Graphics Recommended: ATI Radeon 9200 or better, NVidia GeForce4Ti or better (128 MB VRAM)"

not sure how i can play kotor 1 when it claims i failed the OS and have a warning for the video, and not play kotor 2 that just gives me a warning for the video.
Anyone know a way to force Hardware T&L emulation on an Intel HD card? I would appreciate if anyone could teach me how to!
Thank you gog! I own this on multiple formats, but to own this in DRM Free form is awesome :)

R070V470R: it is the same long time symptom as everyone reports though, crashes right after character creation and the asteroid field intro movie, after which you play as t4 on the ebon hawk tutorial mission.
if you're playing with an intergrated chip, thats why. seems the steam version works for them, but that exe is 2.0.0.2. while the gog version is 2.0.0.1. gog support has been contacted regarding this so hopefully something will come up soon.

a user on the subforum owns both the steam and gog versions and got the game working by copying over the exe. hopefully this will be easy to fix for gog.

Do the game not launch anyway when you try it? Been so long since I booted it up I cannot recall, but I know I have had games with the same situation and I just ignored the warning and they ran fine.
I wonder if there are texture packs available for Kotor II.

Austrobogulator: So, um, does anyone know if the title is trademarked?
...and all rights reserved! :D
This was one of my favorite games on the X-box. It just had this amazing feel to it and I loved it despite the last third of the game being riddled with bugs and glitches and being a mess. Still and amazing game up to that point.

Karahandras: Although the second isn't that different from the first it's not as well written and has a big chunk of the storyline missing.

mobutu: There's absolutely no point in playing this game without the Restored Content Mod
Wait, is this a mod that restores the cut ending stuff on the final planet and makes the last part coherent? I remember it being whispered years ago that some peeps wanted to fix what they could, but it actually happened and got released? Holy crap! I need to play this now! How have I never heard about this...

It's totally worth getting. It fixes a lot of the unfinished stuff and indeed improves upon the ending. The change list is incredible, and I keep marvelling at the amount of things they were able to add back in. That goes for the entirety of the game, by the way, not just the last part.

The ending part is still a bit wonky, and there still are unanswered questions, but there is definitely more there to work with.

Thanx for the info Sachys, that's helpful to know, i'll keep an eye out/ear open for any updates to that effect.

to jackster: yes, it launches okay, it's right after the movie of the asteroid field approach to peragus, and the screen blacks to inside the ebon hawk to control t4 during the intro sequence, that's when the game crashes.

to anyone interested: the mods for either kotor 1 + 2 will keep you busy for a while with these games, and definitely give them a lot more replay value on top of what's already there.
if you need any suggestions of some to try out, or find, just pm me and i'll try to help.
off the bat, for kotor 1, i would suggest brotherhood of shadow solomon's revenge.
and as everyone else has been posting about, for kotor 2, the tsl restored content mod with the droid planet add on.

i worked on the storyline for a mod for kotor 1 at one point, but the mod never came to fruition.
it was a large scale recruitment mod for the female jedi who died on the endar spire at the beginning of the game, a what if she didn't die and you could recruit her scenario.
she would have wound up having a very large role to play, with voice overs amongst other things included.
like many mod attempts, we bit off a bit more than we could chew. ;)
I was just going to get KOTOR II set up to play - with the Restored Content Mod (TSLRCM); and read the following (dated Jan 20th 2015) on that MODDB page:

First off all, welcome! Always good to see people re-playing KOTOR2, or even playing it for the very first time. As the GOG-version is just released, we don't quite know what changes have been made to the executable. Hopefully we'll soon have some sight on that. TSLRCM *should* be completely compatible. Having said that, an update was in the works, pretty much finilised a few days ago and waiting for installer compilation by Zbyl2. We weren't aware of any imminent releases, so this is a fairly nice co-incidence. However, as the update isn't finished yet, we please advise new gamers to wait a few days till the updated version is released, considering it will be a new installer again, and will function the same, overwriting files, which can cause issues with previous other installed mods (hence install TSLRCM first on a clean install!). Here's the change-log incase you really want to play now with your new game (we understand), but seeing how clearly many GOG-players found us here I believe this warning is in place to prevent people to having to re-download over 100MB very soon again.

I bolded the relevant portions.

So.. looks like I'll wait the few days and check back.

Sorry if this was noted earlier ITT - I didn't read the thread first (too many pages).

Was there ever an update on this?

As in, do the mods work on the GOG version? If that's what you're asking, then yes, they do. I just recently played through with both the TSLRCM 1.8.4 mod as well as the M4-78EP (1.2) mod installed and the game worked fine.

I'd be interested in knowing this as well.

I tried downloading the update and installing it myself but it gives me an error and won't complete.

Perhaps the GOG version has it now?
