Raising anthills of glass and steel.

Project Highrise, a high-reaching building/management game with jazzy sensibilities, is available now for Windows and Mac, DRM-free on GOG.com, with GOG Galaxy support for achievements and a 10% launch discount.

From the outside, skyscrapers look like capitalism-bred monstrosities, towering over the less privileged citizens and storeowners below them. But once you get to observe -and indeed build- their insides, it becomes apparent that they're in fact intricate ecosystems, surviving on a delicate balance of functionality, ambition, and profit. In Project Highrise, every store, apartment, or office floor is designed and arranged by you. You are responsible for the constant well-being and prosperity of this expanding vertical sandbox, so the tenants and employees of the building expect you to rise to the occasion. But sustaining a densely-populated, prestigious skyscraper is not enough: you must keep an eye out for opportunities that will make your construction future-proof and increasingly more desirable.

Plan, build, and curate the most awe-inspiring Project Highrise in town, DRM-free on GOG.com.
The 10% launch discount will last until September 15, 10:59 AM, UTC.

Fairfox: Steamie had pre-order bonuses:

Seven exclusive in-game decorative items to spruce up your burgeoning skyscrapers.

1. Aurora, a statue inspired by the dawn of modernism.
2. A bold standing light to adorn and illuminate.
3. Catalonia chair. A stylish standby of skyscraper lobbies.
4. A cubist fountain with water gently cascading over carved granite.
5. An elegant teak table, a curvaceous, contemporary design.
6. Brünn chair. A sleek statement of modern interior design.
7. Carrara marble walls - the height of sophistication.

Kinda bull for a smaller dev-team game, non?
Which begs the question, why weren't we given the opportunity to pre-order? The devs should work out some way for GOG customers to acquire these bonuses.

Painted_Doll: I still don't understand why Smooth Operators was rejected by Gog .
God I hate that song. Glad that GOG rejected it and...

;P
I'd like to buy this, but I'm on a limited budget this month. o:
low rated
Autistic hipster garbage waste of money.
I hope this will be a fantastic modern-day incarnation of Yoot Tower! :D
Definitely a Sim Tower and also Yoot Tower (which was made by one of the team members who also worked on Sim Tower)game there was also Yoot Tower II.

Sim Tower was a Windows 3.11 title and even getting it to run in VirtualBox is hard. Not only installing W3.11 (I still have my disks) but getting graphics drivers to work so it displays properly. This is where Yoot Tower and Yoot Tower II came in as they can run on more modern machines.

Will definitely keep my eye on this one. As others have said, LGR did a fantastic review on Youtube although why he did not tell us anything about elevators and how they work or even IF they are manageable in Highrise is surprising.. I agree with what some people say, the graphics are not as "charming" but it does add different things like managing water. I hope the elevator management is still there.

Price is a bit high though. Wishlisted for now, waiting for it to be on sale. At least 50% discount needed for me on this one based on current price.

I must say after seeing the LGR review I really want this title. I just really need to know if you can manage the elevators. Until then I better stop looking at it else I might buy it........ so I'm off to play YootTower for now to get my fix :)

Sim Tower works great running with Windows 3.11 and DosBox. But as Windows 3.11 is still not free to use it's unfortunately not a solution for GOG. Not sure about Yoot Towers.

I could easily install W3.11 in virtual box but I could never get the graphics driver to work so I gave up trying to get my SimTower to work on a modern PC. Does DOSBOX do a better job of it ?

Also watching more reviews and gameplays it looks like there is no elevator management. That is a giant disappointment for me at least :( :( I really would have liked elevator management. :(

As far as I remember I used the drivers of one of the standard graphic chips back then, I believe it was the driver for a Tseng ET 4000. In some forums, as example the Vogons forum or that of the Abandonia website, there are good instructions how to make a proper windows 3.11 installation that should work for most games of that era.

A missing elevator management would be really sad. In my eyes it was more tricky because of the different types of elevators and their limitations compared to the electricity or water management I've seen so far in the videos.

As far as I can tell from that video they just act as teleporters, more or less. When six open up at the same time on the same shaft... yeah, there's not much going on there other than getting people from one floor to another a bit faster than stairs.

As the target audience for this I have to say it 's priced wrong. I won't give a Simtower/Yoot Tower clone a chance at 20 USD, even slightly discounted. Make it 5, 10 at the absolute most, and I'll impulse buy/review it.

Back to my Yoot Tower building for another year, I suppose.

And this stupidity is a deal breaker for me. Now I'll just wait for a wrapup sale and if you never have one, I just won't ever buy it. I don't support this kind of "exclusivity" and "selling the game piecemeal" behavior from any developer.

How does modding work in the GOG version? I mean...not having workshop access is bad enough, I hope the basic function is still in the game.
