FATALITY!

Mortal Kombat 1+2+3, the bloodiest, dirtiest, nastiest type of kombat komes to Windows and Mac OS X, DRM-free on GOG.com!

Mortal Kombat 1+2+3 are history, no doubt about that. This kombined release is a romp through that history of gore, violence and kontroversy. The gameplay and graphiks are exactly as you remember them from the arkades, in one konvenient package - it's the most kontent komplete version of these three legendary fighters. Mortal Kombat 1+2+3 has been given the GOG.com treatment, that means a hassle-free experience on modern systems, from beginning to end.

Finish him, or her, in Mortal Kombat 1+2+3, available now DRM-free on GOG.com!

tinyE: Seriously, how about an MK nude patch! Well, maybe not. I really don't want to see Kano naked. Goro on the other hand; I wonder how many uhhhhh.....you know.....he has?
Dunno, but I'm sure the ladies love him. Especially that woman that supposedly had three breasts. Four arms meets three breasts and...you know.

haydenaurion: Could WB not have the GFWL drm removed from the more recent and more arcade accurate Mortal Kombat Kollection (which also has UMK3) and release it instead? Kind of a bummer, but at least WB and F.E.A.R. is here.
But playing Single Player in Arcade versions is next to impossible.

Arcade version of MK2 is the hardest. Because you cannot get close to the CPU opponant because they always and I mean always successfully grab you.

Home Versions like SNES and DOS has difficulty settings to make them easier.
Why not Linux?
I am desperate to play a MK.... please, release it for Linux too : (

mistermumbles: Research time!

Frankly, for curiosity's sake I just did a quick & [url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFRBmWi5anE]DOS comparison of MK2, and I must say both sound and music seem to me quite superior in the DOS version, especially when you consider all that horrible crackling due to compression on the Genesis.

As for MK3, the DOS version is supposed to be about as good as a port one could ever wish for. In fact, apparently the Windows version of the same game is worse somehow.

Lastly, considering MK1 it depends on which version is included in this package. There was a floppy and CD version, and the latter's sound is quite a bit better...

All in all, this package still seems very appealing to me, so I'll be buying. I'll be reporting back in a little bit on what my thoughts are.
Yeah I'll for sure pick it up. If no other reason the Genesis Rom versions of 2 and 3 are a bit rough with the controls (if you don't get it EXACTLY EXACTLY EXACTLY right you won't perform the move) and another reason (confession time) while I did have MK for Genesis once, I don't anymore, which makes my having the rom dishonest and I'm not even joking about that. I don't mind screwing someone in here over, but not the site itself. :P

That being said I'll wait for a sale or something.

Didn't the recent Arcade Collection on Steam/360/PS3 have difficulty settings?

Toasty!

These are indeed video game history. I'm not the biggest MK fan, but these are now probably among the best choices on GOG, if you're looking for a good fighting game. ( If only because the genre is still underrepresented on GOG, or on PC in general. :P )

I wonder if there's any chance we'll also get the new titles later on. The new one -- was it MK9? -- is surprisingly good.

They did but they really didn't do much to make things easier, that's the only reason I don't like them is because they're just too difficult for me. I love the home versions.

Ah, I wasn't aware of that, I guess that is better as the AI in the arcade versions have always been super cheap. Still, I wish we could get Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 or Mortal Kombat Trilogy (which is basically UMK3 with more characters).

I'd definitely pony up for MK Trilogy on here.

There are DOS and Windows versions of MK Trilogy, but I have no idea how good or bad they are as i'm only familiar with the Playstation 1 and Nintendo 64 versions.
Nice having these ones here :)

Well I've played the Windows version on my old XP box, it's definitely far better than the console versions. The N64 version was butchered and the PS1 version was crippled due to Shang Tsung load times any time he transformed, the Saturn version managed to somehow be worse. The PC version has no real issues.

Yeah I'm definitely glad they're here as well, I just hope someone or GOG figures a way to get proper controller support.
