yamo: Have played about 2 hrs so far and two things stand out. The first is the frequency of load screens-15+ seconds each. Enter a battle, enter a dungeon, etc Too many load screens. The second is the high cost of food. You need food to heal. This might be an intended sink to limit op PCs or it might be something that only hinders in the early part of the game. I'm playing the default difficulty.
I never buy food, never needed to. There are some areas around the map that have a crapload of fruit bushes like Nabros, Rasmura, Devonia, etc. Those add a good 1/2 days worth of food or more for each bush. Mark their locations with a custom note in your map and revisit the area every 3 days or whenever you need food.

You don't need food to heal, though u need food to rest in the wilderness. You can rest at an inn or eat pots or cast healing spells. You do suffer a huge combat penalty without food, eventually you'll take HP dmg on every move until you get food.

Everyone getting the standard or the deluxe version? (wondering if the deluxe is *worth it*)

Well, the deluxe version only adds the talisman of golot to the game. The rest that the deluxe version contents are a rather crappy manual, a game guide (which contains a walkthrough) and a bestiary.
I got the Deluxe Edition, mainly to support the developer.

The Talisman of Golot adds a little bit to the game as it's some helper than gives you hints when you get stuck in the game. You also gain some other benefits over time (mainly as compensation for not being able to equip other necklaces).

The game guide is also nice, especially because the manual is pretty useless. =p

I might have gotten the regular edition if it wasn't for the 30% sale.

Yeah, the Talisman is pretty helpfull. It needs energy, which you get from won fights and a few energyballs which can be found in the world.
It can produce and do many things, for a specific amount of energy of course! It`s able to summon gold and food. It can give you skillpoints and, last but really not least, it can fully heal your party members, even curses can be lifted and sickness cured, so it`s pretty damn usefull!
Just got it.
Installed it.
Died. XD

Man I almost got 10 feet onto the land. :P

That`s the punishment for stealing my birthday!! :-)
Which difficulty did you select?

Maxvorstadt: The game guide is not bad. It contains lists of classes, skills, weapons and a walktrough.

Thanks for the replies guys :)

qwixter: The game comes with a worthless manual. It's basically the beginning tips popups, and a short key list.

I do not have the game guide, so I cannot tell you about that. I refuse to pay an extra $7 for proper documentation. I found a google docs spreadsheet with good information from reading the steam forums. It listed out all skills and spells. Plus the cost of increasing for each class. So that's good enough for me.
Thanks for the heads up :)

I've been playing for maybe about 12 hours so far, and it keeps getting better. Much better overall than I expected, and absolutely worth the purchase price. Excellent soundtrack too!
I have not put much time into it yet. I keep thinking about what to start with while playing Inquisition.

Explorer, Barb, Thief
Mage, Cleric, Summoner

Explorer, Pally, Barb,
Thief, Cleric, Mage

Explorer, Pally, Thief,
Cleric, Bard, Mage

Just being indecisive about Thief, Pally, Bard, Summoner, or Barb.

in most games there are lots of barbs (barbarians/fighters)
diablo 2 LOD(lord of destruction) had loads of big bad barbs, these guys where evry tough to kill if properly setup, there were also laods of barbs that were setup badly , like mine :D hahahah

Played long time ago diablo 2 lod online on battlenet usually us west and sometimes us east , asian was too slow server and the dutch, well they were boring players so most of the time we were in parties with the english and us players on us west and us east, most on US west.

yup the music is great.
I have lots of games still to play, bought lots of them in fall and winter promo
so i still have a lot to do :D

i cleaned out 1 party in that 1st city when the game starts, those nasty guards were to strong but now i am lvl 4 and have 300plus life points an the stats are all at 85 for entire party :D
but now the first fights are to easy usally 1 whack and kabam they are goners, so i guess i will reduce them to 20 or so, the 85 str and con is good for loads of health and HP, the str is good this gives you almost triple the amount you can carry.

I paid the other gurads off these asked for 1000 gold to be able to get an early retirement, some refused and wanted to fight me, well i retired these guys myself . to oblivion.

I like my summoner a lot. I favor summoning the Herald of Nalaet and the Herald of Taliet, for an extra healer and extra ranged damage. I'm underimpressed with my cleric, but I may have misinvested a few attribute points early on.

Cleric is invaluable especially on harder difficulties and in later game. She gets mass protection, heal and elemental buffs which are essential for some encounters especially fights like the Witches. Herald of Nalaet is a good sub healer but she can only do so much.
