Game looks like an awesome throwback to classic RPGs.
I never get the time to play, but my heart is still going to the old schoolish rpg... So I was happy I finished both Shadowrun, getting ready to play Divinity OS before the Pillars of Eternity come. And now this unexpected release. Well. I guess I'm not catching up any time soon... -_-'

Definitely not old school manual. That is one sorry manual that it comes with in the base version of the game. Doesn't even mention classes. 15 mini-pages long.

Other interesting notes I found while looking in the game directory for more documentation. It ships with a C++ source file, Loader.cpp. It appears to ship with Steam DLLs as well like Steamworks.dll and Steamworks.net.dll. They also have shader source files. Visual studio vshost config file.

So I guess the deliverables weren't cleaned up for the Gog version. It looks like someone zipped up the developer's build directory and created an install with it.

Yeah, seems like this is the Steam version of the game, but hopefully without the Steam connection.
Let`s hope that the game doesn´t call home!!

I've seen the little steam popup in the lower right. It's done it a couple of times now very briefly (under a second in duration maybe).
Have played about 2 hrs so far and two things stand out. The first is the frequency of load screens-15+ seconds each. Enter a battle, enter a dungeon, etc Too many load screens. The second is the high cost of food. You need food to heal. This might be an intended sink to limit op PCs or it might be something that only hinders in the early part of the game. I'm playing the default difficulty.

correct: way too many load screens, by the time you get back to the game you are out of the game flow :D

need of food is a bad thing in my opinion.... baldurs did not need food those were brave men :D

Not sure what you guys are doing but loading screens generally last about 1-2 seconds for me, and it doesn't seem like there's an unusual amount of them. I usually don't even get a chance to read the game tips on the loading screens, since they disappear so quickly. :P

On a related note: PEOPLE, BUY THIS GAME.

I had mixed impressions after looking at the screenshots, and wasn't going to buy it right now, especially since I still have several other good(!) RPGs installed and waiting for me to complete them. Yet for some reason I gave in and bought a copy, and I haven't touched any of the other games, ever since I installed Xulima.

If I have the time I might write a more detailed post about my impressions so far, but for now let's just say, if you like the genre and this game seems slightly interesting to you, go ahead and buy it. Chances are you won't regret it. :)
I will wait for a discount, because 5 EUR is the max. I can pay for any game.

If needed, I can wait years until I pay & play a game ... anyway, there are so many games today, especially free ones, that is simply unbelievable. And than, there is the problem with the freetime.

Whats the game guide like, is it good or just a tarted up manual?
The game comes with a worthless manual. It's basically the beginning tips popups, and a short key list.

I do not have the game guide, so I cannot tell you about that. I refuse to pay an extra $7 for proper documentation. I found a google docs spreadsheet with good information from reading the steam forums. It listed out all skills and spells. Plus the cost of increasing for each class. So that's good enough for me.
The game guide is not bad. It contains lists of classes, skills, weapons and a walktrough.
The most astounding thing is that the documentation and game guide come in four different languages: english, german, french and spain. Normally the gog games only come with english documentation, even if you buy the game in another language version. The german version of KOTOR, for example, contains no german manual, but the english one!
Looks great! Honest to goodness old-school RPG :)

I approve very much and looking at a video of it, I'm pretty much sold on it. I'm kind of burned out from playing Dragon Age: Inquisition and I need an antidote with stats and turnbased combat.

I was just going to post this video. Its Matt Chat if anyone is interested.

The game looks much better in this video than it does in the trailer - the walking in the trailer seemed so slow. I have actually added this to my wishlist.
