@jonongold: It's just like so many already said. It should not even be a question if GOG should get the same treatment as Steam and it does not matter how many care for achievements aor not since this is not the question. If the game would be available in Japanese on Steam it still would not matter how many people here on GOG are Japanese or would care to play the game in Japanese i.e. You demand the same money here on GOG for the game so you should offer the same game as far as that is possible (I know that some things for technical reasons are very Steam specific and hard or impossible to implement on GOG - achievements are NOT one of these things).

So please don't let GOG (and its community) regret that they reconsidered offering your game here and just treat us like you would treat your customers on Steam - that's all people are asking for.

And just to add something positive: Playing this game for several hours and I really like it. It's pretty unique and completely fluid without getting stuck or not knowing what to do. It feels a bit like the Telltale games but with much more choices and the great mystery of deciphering a language added to it.

Game looks amazing, but won't buy it because this attitude is toxic towards GOG. It starts with no achievements but if a patch releases on Steam it probably won't release on GOG as well, except if it is paid DLC.

The dev has another game here, 80 days, and if I'm understanding it rightly it took 20 days for the last version to show up here from its release on steam.

Personally I disagree that achievement parity is vital for a game to come here for big publishers/devs sure for small ones no. Think of it this way gog essentially is adding an up front cost to releasing here, devs have to spend additional resources to add gog achievements. Given than gog rejects games the dev isn't too likely to budget gog achievements as part of the development cause it could prove a waste of time hence why a number of games release without and get them added later.

Good point but in this case imo it is different. They were already rejected and GOG reconsidered - so the moment GOG did this they should have tried to offer the best experience they could - which means everything they offer on Steam - to make sure that GOGers will buy as well and therefore prove to GOG that their rejection decision was wrong (yes, there are people that don't buy just because of missing achievements or better just because the game is not up to par with Steam).

Gonna stop you right there. If it's GOG who was in the wrong, so to say, obviously the "difference", if any, shouldn't work out to be disfavorable to Inkle.

Actually it does not even matter WHOSE fault it was that the game was rejected before. Inkle should have the intention to make it a success on GOG either way. If it's not GOG might think that rejecting it the first time was the correct decision. Also, adding achievements and therefore pleasing those who want them ist not really "disfavorable" for them in the long run.

What about those of us that don't want annoying popups breaking the mood of the game, just to tell us 'DING... you spoke to Character X'. or 'DING... you picked up 3 items'.

If you want annoying achievements, just make them up yourself.

Come join us on the dark side, we who refuse to embrace everything that's modern and trendy ! Let them who want these features have them on Galaxy and Galaxy alone.

If you do not like achievements just disable them, but let others have the opportunity to enjoy them.

I can completely understand you in such cases in which we are talking about in game achievements which cannot be turned off at all. In this case however we are talking about Galaxy only achievements that can easily be disabled in case you don't want them. And just to be clear, I am not an achievement hunter I just think that those that want them should have the opportunity to enjoy them because those might otherwise buy on Steam to get them and I am all for GOG customers being treated well and equal.
high rated
We've just updated the GOG version to include Galaxy achievements. Enjoy!
+1 to teh devs
