Tennant was the best modern Doctor Who, the series has degenerated since he left.

I'm happy to concede that you have the 'gallifrey', whatever that means. My point stands, if you need me to repeat it, I will. I prefer older actors, that can convey wisdom and gravitas. Some of this will come from the actual age of the actor, some from the skill of the actor. Either way, that's how I like my Doctors. If you don't, that's fine too.

Maybe this is an older fan younger fan thing (though 41 is hardly young!). The Doctors that got me into the show and made it entertaining for me were young men, Tennant and Smith. She fits in with that pretty well, the stories around her just aren't as good. Well they weren't in her first season, which is the only one I watched. I liked the Rosa Parks episode and the one in India, but that was it.

I couldn't get more than about halfway into her first series. It was like watching a beloved relative die.

Have they had some story surrounding the revelation of his name yet? I suppose they will keep that for the finale episode if ever but I always thought it would be cool to watch some origin story behind it regardless of what the name is. I need to catch up on the series as Matt Smith is the last doctor I watched.

I'm surprised the show remained decent for as long as it did tbh. I'm sure there were always weirdos in the BBC who wanted to stuff it full of political propaganda, I guess they just won out in the end. I'm surprised the current doctor isn't a black, transsexual, gay, disabled, furry, immigrant, muslim woman in a wheelchair so as to tick off as many diversity boxes as possible.

My Dr Who growing up was Pertwee for a couple of years, then Tom Baker, up until 1977-ish.

I remember Baker saying when he was due to leave that it would be good for the show to have a female doctor, and I think he suggested Glenda Jackson! She would have been amazing.

It always seemed strange to me that this alien only ever regenerated into a human-looking white man of a certain age. This had nothing to do with equality...it just seemed very unimaginative to me when there were so many possibilities.

Anyway, I tried my best to watch 'New Who' but I can't. It's too fast, too noisy, too condensed. But to be fair, I'm not the target market. I'm an old codger.

I'd love a arpg Dr Who, set in the original era. This isn't the game for me.

My first memory of having a nightmare was after watching The Green Death.

I must be fortunate I haven't ever seen a single TV episode of Doctor Who. What I've gathered so far is that:

1. It is some science fiction UK TV show which has been running since the 1940s or so.

2. There is some weird bloke that goes to different... eras...? on a magical phone booth. Wheeeeee!

3. Some years ago the TV series apparently hopped into the intersectional feminism and identity politics bandwagon, becoming a preachy TV series telling its dumb viewers what they are supposed to think about different (mostly political) issues. And that angered many people.

Am I right or am I right? Anyway, the whole series sounds so oddball that I can't understand why I'd want to watch it (I presume nowadays Dr Who uses a magical smartphone (iPhone?!?), instead of a phone booth?). I don't even know where it is viewable? Netflix? All seasons? Well, I don't have a Netflix subscription, so there's that.

Meh, I play something instead.

So it appears here in Finland it is available in Netflix (which I don't have), and apparently shown also on the national Finnish YLE TV (which is the Finnish equivalent of BBC, I guess). I presume they only show the latest season(s) on YLE.

EDIT: Well, in YLE web stream ( https://areena.yle.fi ), only "Doctor Who: Revolution of Daleks" is available for view, whatever episode that is. Apparently it was originally shown on YLE TV half a year ago.
