Keep your soldiers close, keep your enemies closer.

The Close Combat series has arrived, DRM-free and up to 65% off on GOG.com.
Bridge Too Far, The Russian Front, and The Battle of the Bulge, three legendary top-down RTS classics chronicling the gruesome battles of WWII are finally back, exclusively on GOG.com. Known for their snappy AI, realistic sound design and well-researched scenarios, Close Combat games let you side with either the Germans or the Allies as you pull off smart tactical maneuvers and desperate acts of heroism.

Additionally, two of the recent entries in the series, Gateway to Caen and Panthers in the Fog, bring a modern touch to your real-time WWII battles. Relive or change history as you experience the British assault on the aftermath of the Normandy landings and the ruthlessness of the desperate German counterattack at Mortain.

The discounts last until February 13, 2PM UTC.
This brings me memories of my old PC... but I was poor so I only played the demo(from a Bridge too Far) I got from a PC magazine back in the day.

So, I'm going to buy this right now lol.

IainMcNeil: We'll have more games on GoG soon but they need to be selective to avoid overloading you! We have 300 strategy and wargames in our line up and release ~3 new releases a month.
Let's just say Warhammer games should be your priority :-D
Nice releases and especially nice to see Slitherine here. Will surely buy one of the next releases from them.
Speaking of Slitherine/Matrix, I'd love to see these on GOG:

Battlestar Galactica Deadlock
Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon
Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon – Da Orks
Warhammer 40,000: Sanctus Reach

Warhammer 40,000: Sanctus Reach
LOL, that's my list as well - minus Sanctus Reach+Expansions which I bought on Slitherine's site last December.
(I had no troubles there, and it has none of that Steam bull but I'd prefer buying my computer games on GOG all the same)
Ohhhh yes!

I grew up with these games and still adore them.

Just make sure to get Der Ost Front mod for CC3.

I wish for a Gold version of Pride of Nations.
Played the first one over and over.
Thanks for bringing the later versions
How is Panthers in the Fog? I've got CC 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, Cross of Iron and Gateway to Caen.

Talking of mods, for CC2 I recommend the AFV camouflage mods by TeamFFL, and the sound mod by MajorT.

And here I thought I'd budgeted properly for the year, now I have to figure out where to get more money for games lol
This is kind of amusing: the "Close Combat 3" soldier on the artwork looks like this guy in a viral video from a few years back (overreacting to snow coming down in the South):

300 strategy games? That's an impressive number. And you want to bring all of them to GOG?

Even when GOG will be choosy and only accept half of your games this would be enough to keep me busy for years. :)
Are the remakes (like Cross of Iron or Wacht am Rhein) worth waiting for or should I pull the trigger on the CC2-4?

Yessssssssssssssssssss
Much love for these ones. Very especially for A Bridge Too Far. Always played the Big Campaign... Sweet times... Also the background material that came with the CD, videos and all is quite remarkable.

For the military history aficionados here, not a bad moment to recommend A Jump too Many, the autobiography of Major General John Frost, at the time commander of the 2nd Parachute Battallion, as you all grognards know :-)

Another nice (and rather short) book, The Bruneval Raid. If you can find it, you will get a brief account of John Frost in Africa and Sicily, as well as a good peek at the insides of a special operation with combined arms in the coast of France.

The museum in Oosterbeck is recommended if you ever happen to be around.
