Agarest: Generations of War ZERO, the Agarest prequel, is available now for Windows, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 50% launch discount!

Agarest: Generations of War ZERO, the prequel to the original trans-generational JRPG wonder, is making it's way to DRM-free PCs worldwide. As a compelling and innovative turn-based RPG, the Agarest series has also always been a unique kind of game - on your adventure, you'll build relationships with your female party members. By the time your story comes to an end, one of them will become the mother of your child - the culmination of your lifetime choices. The game’s Soul Breed system gives you the opportunity to influence each future generation of fighters as your offspring inherits the best of what you, and the partner of your choice, have to offer.
Agarest: Generations of War ZERO expands the original gameplay with new features like Vacation Days: a way to get to know your team a little better (and unlock a few outfits in the process), and a whole new multi-generational story to experience with great keyboard + mouse, or controller, support.

The future is in your hands, in Agarest: Generations of War ZERO - available now, DRM-free on GOG.com! The 50% launch discount will last for one week, until Tuesday, April 28, 9:59 AM GMT.
And, how much strategy is really in the game?
Waouh it finally arrived :)

Instabuy

Now the series is only missing one game, Agarest Generations of War 2

@Russonc : most of the DLC for this series are "cheat" ( ex dlc 2 > add 10,000,000G, 1,000PP, 100,000TP) -_-;

Russonc: I just edited my original post.... this got good reviews, but I don't like the expensive DLC model they use...I'll pass at this point.

Geralt_of_Rivia: I don't know about Zero but the first game had a lot of DLC included in the GOG version. And I switched them all off because all the DLC have been nothing but cheats. Like having great weapons right from the start that you can't legitimately get until you are about 3/4th into the game. Or lots of skill points to raise your stats right from the start.

Trust me, if you are serious about playing the game and not just rush through it overpowered you don't need any of the DLCs.
Thanks for the info... I will take a closer look at this after work... I do generally like this style RPG

Edit - Thanks Sarasa as well... Nice to know the DLC doesn't really add much (I don't usually need to cheat on these). :)

musteriuz: It seems the original got slated badly, but this one was received slightly better? All in all I'm not too convinced by this one to be honest.
I was one of the people who disliked the original. Basically, it felt grindy and the battle system was simplistic yet cumbersome so you could neither finish a fight fast nor did you have to think about the strategy after you got the hang of the system. Combat felt like a chore to reach the next cutscene, and those were too barebones to keep my interest.

I heard this second one fixed much of what I disliked from the original, the story being more fleshed out alone would make me try it out. But I'd like to hear the opinion of someone who can make the comparison after having played both.

I wonder if this one is fixed at 30 fps too.

On game like this, I don't mind. It would be kinda stupid though, I see no reason for it.

I thought it wouldn't bother me, it did. I really dislike the way the mouse controls feel at 30 fps. :l

Not all that different from how it controls on my laptop, with 2 local web servers and the DB running, actually. Guess I got used to it.
The proper title should be Agarest: Generations of War ZERO DX+ x10Z NEKO BAKA ONNICHAN EDITION

But seriously though, where's FF2? :/

I used to think I was ok with Strategy games. Then I got confused during the tutorial. That was certainly a first for me.

Spoiler:
in the original game's tutorial, you have to fight a boulder. a boulder. It just sits there. It is a boulder.

.. the boulder won.

Nice debut discount! No reason not to get it, so it has been got. Gotten? Getted? GAME GET! :)
I'll pass on this due to grind-feast hell!!!
I played the heck out of this game, even if it seems like a grind fest at times. But it's still a lot of fun and the options are pretty open. The battles do take a while but that doesn't detract from their enjoyment.

I bought it, even after owning it on PS3! :)

I also hope the Agarest War 2 can come here, since this is now 2 out of 3!

Bring on more JRPG's!
Instabuy , now I can wait Agarest 2 :D
