Elendil: Hi!
I'm Elendil from Redshift.
We have iOS and PC (Windows) versions of The Quest and Legacy. There are demo versions available on our site, if anyone is interested (there is a screenshot too, even on the PC version's homepage :) .(There are also PocketPC and Palm versions. :) And they can be bought from us directly using PayPal or direct bank transfer.
Yes, I've asked GOG about distributing The Quest and they rejected it, because it's not a "classic".
The Quest was first released on 2006-08-18, for the PocketPC. It seems there is no release announcement for the Windows version now, but it was also released shortly after.
The Windows version is quite rough around the edges I admit. :) It was never designed to be a PC game, but it works. It runs in a window, and the largest resolution it supports is 800x600.
We are a very small company, just two guys and I'm the only programmer. I actually joined to help create The Quest, as our other programmer wasn't much of a graphics programmer, so I created the graphics engine. However, he has left us a long time ago. And although I created the iOS port and made numerous changes, I'm still not really comfortable with the source of the game. It's a horrible mess. :P
This is why, altough on one hand I would like to release the Windows version, as it seems there is some demand for it, on the other hand I would really like to polish it up a bit. (It also doesn't contain the numerous smaller and larger updates and game fixes the iOS version received.)
However, just to "polish it up" would take a long time, so I was thinking about basically "recreating" it, creating a new version, with proper resolution independence, etc. I think even our other member, Sylon, the artist guy would be interested to redraw the graphics in high resolution. But this would take a really. really long time, and we are quite short on time already (our new game in the works has been in the works far too long now).
So, this is why I haven't really pressed the issue. It might be nice to sell the Windows version, but it's clunky and out of date and I would loathe to try and "polish it up", when what it really needs is a proper new version.
Sorry for rambling. :) I hope I've answered all questions, but if not, ask away.
1-I know I asked on the site, but I was going to ask if you are currently going to be finishing the card game rpg which you are making.
2-And this card game, is that much like those visual novels like Northmark-Hour of the wolf, where there are cards that each represent a character and you engage in combat with them? Im only asking if there is a leveling up aspect of the game like your other games or if it is just a card game..
Thanks for any info you can give.
