Has anyone heard of Redshift?

They make old style (Daggerfall) RPG type games that have been released for Mac/PC.

I haven't had the chance to play any of their stuff and was wondering how it was?

They look alright.

Edit: The Quest wishlist.

I tried the Quest on iPhone. Interesting game. It seems like it's impossible to buy the PC/Mac versions anymore, though, as Chillingo changed their site up and the old buy links lead there.

EDIT: Also, less Daggerfall, more Might and Magic. The Quest, at least, is grid-based.

You can buy it using email and Paypal... though I kind of strongly dislike Paypal.

Ah I see that now. The "Clickgamer.com has closed" announcement. Should have probably updated the download/purchase part of the site.

Where are the Mac versions, by the way?

I think it's for iPhone or Pad. So the App store?

I'm just kind of interested in seeing them on GOG.

That's not Mac. That's iOS. Two separate things. :P

Anyways, yeah, would be cool to see the PC versions on GOG but I don't know how much weight Chillingo publishing the iOS versions has in terms of that, especially considering they also used to publish the PC version when they were Clickgamer.
I was reading about this today in another thread. Apparently they were turned down by GOG.

Ah, I see the comment I read about GOG turning them down was made by the OP. Are there any sources for that info. Just curious as these games do look interesting.

I emailed them the other morning about whether they would sell on GOG and they replied to me saying that they contacted GOG and were rejected by GOG and Steam.
The address was a reply from their .hu email, so that was as legit as I could get. I would really like to see Redshift here, as their games have all the hallmarks of classic RPGs, but are obviously fine tuned enough (they're on iOS or whatever) to avoid some of the obnoxious flaws that "real" classics have.

I haven't had the time to start a proper wishlist entry though. I was hoping that if we raise enough of a ruckus GOG should take notice.
Cool. Thanks for the info. If you make the entry I would vote for these.

Shattered Haven and Anodyne made it here. Surely there may be a place for these too.

well it might be because their prices for a ported game for PC is rather high 9.99 or maybe the port is awful (I have not tried it just guessing) so the quality control wasn't passed. Did they give a reason for rejected? RPG usually sells quite well so there must be something wrong for GOG to turn them down (Steam has Greenlight they could try that).

Edit just looking at the page all the shots from the game are from mobile phones. Seems like the PC port is either too gritty for pictures or they just haven't gotten around to doing them? Either way Ported games has to be almost completely redone for pc to be worth it IMO so that right there might be their problem.

Hi!

I'm Elendil from Redshift.

We have iOS and PC (Windows) versions of The Quest and Legacy. There are demo versions available on our site, if anyone is interested (there is a screenshot too, even on the PC version's homepage :) .(There are also PocketPC and Palm versions. :) And they can be bought from us directly using PayPal or direct bank transfer.

Yes, I've asked GOG about distributing The Quest and they rejected it, because it's not a "classic".

The Quest was first released on 2006-08-18, for the PocketPC. It seems there is no release announcement for the Windows version now, but it was also released shortly after.

The Windows version is quite rough around the edges I admit. :) It was never designed to be a PC game, but it works. It runs in a window, and the largest resolution it supports is 800x600.

We are a very small company, just two guys and I'm the only programmer. I actually joined to help create The Quest, as our other programmer wasn't much of a graphics programmer, so I created the graphics engine. However, he has left us a long time ago. And although I created the iOS port and made numerous changes, I'm still not really comfortable with the source of the game. It's a horrible mess. :P

This is why, altough on one hand I would like to release the Windows version, as it seems there is some demand for it, on the other hand I would really like to polish it up a bit. (It also doesn't contain the numerous smaller and larger updates and game fixes the iOS version received.)

However, just to "polish it up" would take a long time, so I was thinking about basically "recreating" it, creating a new version, with proper resolution independence, etc. I think even our other member, Sylon, the artist guy would be interested to redraw the graphics in high resolution. But this would take a really. really long time, and we are quite short on time already (our new game in the works has been in the works far too long now).

So, this is why I haven't really pressed the issue. It might be nice to sell the Windows version, but it's clunky and out of date and I would loathe to try and "polish it up", when what it really needs is a proper new version.

Sorry for rambling. :) I hope I've answered all questions, but if not, ask away.

Ah, you must have tried before they started selling indie games.

The when is a good question.
I honestly would not mind the game if it was low resolution or not on a big screen.

I mean, where are we again?

Has anyone managed to start a wishlist thread? I've been distracted lately and don't' think that I could make an entry that would do it justice.

1-I know I asked on the site, but I was going to ask if you are currently going to be finishing the card game rpg which you are making.

2-And this card game, is that much like those visual novels like Northmark-Hour of the wolf, where there are cards that each represent a character and you engage in combat with them? Im only asking if there is a leveling up aspect of the game like your other games or if it is just a card game..

Thanks for any info you can give.
Wonder if GOG would reconsider with their indie thing? I played a good way through The Quest. It has a nice environment and exploring is fairly entertaining.
