GamezRanker: I disagree. I like a good bit of criticism(even if a bit crudely worded) now and then.....it (along with people answering questions or posting info) gives some added variety to the sea of somewhat similarly written saccharine flavored (thanks/etc) posts.

Also I think what that poster might've been trying(albeit a bit crudely) to express was the general feeling of "new product released, many eager to consume new product" that seems to come about with every rehash(remake/remaster) of an old game/etc.
Well, if you not against criticism, than should understand, that the post was definitely not criticism. Criticism would be questions: 1) why they didn't released QE alongside with steam version? 2) what could be wrong with GOG version (examples: no multiplayer, no new campaign, presence of DRM)?

What that post was - only a bragging. If you think this is what criticism is, than no surprise that your rep is so low.

Incorrect.....even a simple "this thing/person sucks" is criticism. And that post that other user wrote was also criticism....edgy and crude criticism, of course, but still criticism.
(also as to the other bit of your post: if you check my posts ITT, you'll note that all of them are low rated....even the nice polite ones. This is not due to their quality, but because I have "fans" that low rate everything I post)

Great. As others have mentioned in prior post, I truly hope Doom 3 original is included with BFG someday. I purchased it for a second time on Steam, despite owning a physical copy of it because it wasn't available here.

pds41: I do agree on vanilla Doom 3 & Expansion though - while I liked the lost missions, I didn't like the way they cut content from the base game and expansion.
The original version of Doom 3 is far superior for multiple reasons and it's a shame it's not on here. The only thing BFG offers is the new mission (which is meh) and higher framerate support (source ports don't really offer this even though they claim they do).

I was also disappointed that we lost EAX support. To be honest, I only bought the BFG edition here to get the Lost Mission and the extra Doom II episode (about the only thing I played with the horrendous censored WADs packaged with that game).

Once I finished that, I obliterated the install as zDoom kept picking up the censored WADs as my defaults when running other WADs (meaning that I got the pill box logos rather than the red crosses). Probably could have worked out how to fix that, but there wasn't any point keeping it on my HDD at that point.

Yeah, besides the re-used content (including some re-used rooms from Doom 3), parts of the main plot make no sense: *spoiler alert(for others)* the demons needed earth's ships to get to earth in Doom 3, as the delta and hell portals couldn't reach earth, but then somehow in the lost missions(which are set at the same time as Doom 3) there's a 2nd lab that can teleport to earth. *end spoilers*

Eh, OG Doom 3 + RoE would be nice, but thanks to the dhewm3-sourceport I can at least play my old physical copy on Windows 10.

Looking forward to it. Saw some vids of the new episodes on YouTube.

Needed a hype follow up to ArcaneDimensions and Alkaline.

Nah, it's just an insult and you just a clown. And have you just tried to pull a "Victim card"? It's low.

BrianSim: I simply don't get the hype of releasing Windows only Kex / Unity versions of games that already have free high quality cross-platform source ports:-
No muss, no fuss. Just start it up and go. NIN OST is fixed. This is great for noobs and/or those that ain't into modding; they just can boot and play.

Plus, there's a NEW Episode on Quake: Remastered here too from MachineGames (Dimensions of the Machine); and Multiplayer Crossplay support w/ PC and consoles here; improved graphics bells & whistles; Achievements; Quake 64 support; etc etc here in Quake Remastered.

Meanwhile, us Source Port users can have our cake and eat it too - as we have our Source Ports still and can use those; the old version of Quake is still there for Steam-users (and probably will be on GOG too); and also now the new Remastered version.

EDIT:
Also, keep in mind - this Remaster's now on Consoles too. Consoles have NEVER had a Quake version this complete on their platform w/ all of this content (Quake base-game; Scourge expansion; Dissolution expansion; Dimension of the Past episode; Dimensions of the Machine NEW Episode; Quake 64 in the Mods section).

And since consoles and PC's are so similar in architecture these days and Remastering everything's the new craze - yeah, so...why not re-release Quake again, fix it up, bring it to as many platforms as possible, and make some more $?

I haven't played it much so far, but I love what they've done. :D

Now I really wish Nightdive would tackle Daikatana in the not so distant future.

With features like:
- Actual AI partners that work and don't need babysitting
- Weapons that work and don't try to actively kill you
- Less wonky sound effects when you're all powered up
- All episodes completely replaced by brand new good ones (made by Machine Games, why not?)
- FMVs replacing old in engine cutscenes, done in the style of 90's FMV adventures
- An option to replace companions with civvie11 and Gmanlives

They can even call it BIG DAMNED DAIKATANA! or Daikatana - Please be my puppy Edition*

:P

* PS. it is a joke, obviously. But I'd enjoy it nonetheless. One can always dream, right?

As a Tomb Raider fan I'd like to see them remaster the classic TR games (TR 1-3 or 1-5).

Tbh, short of the AI being fixed on the companions(including having them climbing up/down ladders and going into/out of vents and such properly) and some weapons, I like most of the rest as is....including the episodes(well maybe minus bits of the final one, which seemed a bit bland compared to the others), sound effects, and a number of the weapons.

Now if they could improve that lackluster end boss battle, that'd be sweet.

Wasn't TR1 already remade as anniversary?

Criticism? Erh... Usually most people are too much exited and dont care what really happened to game with such updates and remakes. Acting like kids asking new one things and dont care about old - just because its old.

And that "kids" too many of them, if keep in mind we are initially on Good OLD Games. Too much "how it can be played, its old" here for many games.

There is no and never be replaces for "original"s. Any remakes, forks, mods - both officials and un-official.
And usually there is a lot missing\messing content with such updates (check Fallout's Classic's here, by same Bethesda). And additionally for GOG - sometimes goodies are missing (sometimes without any reasons).

If someone aware of this and want keep current build as is - they have reasons for that. At least this things is far of criticism.

Good to hear! Hope Doom 64 gets a release soon too.
