fronzelneekburm: Yup, looks like those online hooks - those that are supposedly keeping the Quake EE from being released here - are still intact.
I am guessing we will get it, when they get around to setting up something that allows us to get the Addons from Bethesda.net via Galaxy .... or they might just disable the Addons, which would be sure to kick up a fuss, so perhaps they are waiting for the addons to be done, and will include them as built-in for the GOG version. The only other option would be free DLC for the addons. Any of that means extra work and cost, and no doubt ongoing maintenance.
Doom Unity was released in September 2020 on Steam and it was brought here in August 2022. Quake received its update in August 2021 on Steam. Clearly, it will be updated here in July 2023.

Mathematically sound, but I'd say that's a very generous estimate, considering that Quake Enhanced has a working multiplayer mode and Doom Enhanced doesn't. Implementing multiplayer seems to make waiting times on gog increase exponentially, which means that I wouldn't count on a gog release until somewhere around the year 4.092.529 (though that would imply that ND/Bethesda are already working on a gog build, which they have repeatedly claimed they are not, so even that may be an overly optimistic estimate).

Don't sweat the details.

If wet get into them, it's not like it should take 2 years (2.5 if you count the Bethesda.net release) to get the same Unity updates that had no client dependency/features in the first place.
Didn't they scrap that Bethesda Launcher?

Well actually.

If you want to get the Addons which include the PC version of Quake 64, then it does appear that either the Epic or Steam client is required for the connection to Bethesda to succeed. At GOG that would likely mean a Galaxy requirement instead.

They scrapped the launcher, but not the endless Bethesda account crap in their games.

They eventually bothered to remove that stuff from Skyrim and Doom 64 to sell them here, I'd guess they'll do Quake eventually but are in no rush.
Annoyingly, after reluctantly installing both the Epic and Steam clients on my wife's Windows 8.1 PC, so I could run the 64 bit version of Quake to get the Addons, they didn't work.

I don't know why Bethesda have to make it so hard, and I have no clue what I need to do now, as I have given permission to everything I could think of in relation to the game and launchers, to get through my Firewall and AV.

It is possible I guess, that the game will only connect to Bethesda.net using Windows 10 or 11. That's my last kind of hope right now, and unfortunately it will be a while before I can attempt that.

I've also read that currently the Addons require an internet connection even to play, something which Steam says they are trying to fix. If true, then no doubt that is one big reason GOG don't yet have the Enhanced version.

I'm tempted to go the pirate route, just to get what I've paid for, and that is ridiculous and should never need to be.

Why the hell can't you just download the Addons via your Steam or Epic account or even Bethesda account as that can be linked to either store. Why is there a need to do it via a menu option in game. So damn stupid as is.

About Add-Ons - if you downloaded them, did you try running them in IronWail or QuakeSpasm?

You can run add-ons in QuakeSpasm. I was able to play though Quake 64 on it.

Alas Bethesda still fails to connect so I am unable to obtain any of the addons. As I said earlier the only seeming option left to me, is to use a PC with a later version of Windows (10 or 11), which is temporarily not an option for me. If that fails then I will be stumped, probably meaning contacting Bethesda or somesuch ... or getting the addons elsewhere.

Not sure if anyone has tried this...

Has anyone tried Quake Remastered on say a flavor or Linux OS or Steam OS (on a desktop or laptop) or a SteamDeck & then connecting to Bethesda Servers in-game Mods Section and downloading that stuff there?

Is that possible?

EDIT:
And if need be to run GOG or Epic games on Linux/SteamOS/SteamDeck - I'd guess most would try to use Heroic on there.

It's here guys!
Great news! I wish devs update Quake Enhanced and add "the lost" level section to the new campaign one day, and also fix the gun model physics when it's blown away after 2 seconds free fall.
high rated
LOL, the addons require a Bethesda login. So much for technical issues delaying the update.
