Emob78: 1. Absence makes the heart grow fonder.

2. Familiarity breeds contempt.

3. Please do NOT enter the bear cage. The bears are very dangerous.

Now, which one of these statements is not like the other two?
the fourth one.

_Slaugh_: Here are three more pictures of my gaming room, and for the curious, my gaming station in 2004. That blue tank in the 4th picture is a Zalman Reserator, a fanless external water cooling kit.

PS: If you're asking, I didn't clean the room before taking the pictures. I keep the mess in the closets! :-p
I think if I white-gloved your game room, I would not find ONE spec of dust. How do you even?

Envious of the cleanliness. In my "dust-bowl township," once I wipe - that thin layer of dust returns within hours. Drives me nuts!
Bought a refurb HP DC7900 SFF ($99 and free Win7Pro) with E8500 now has 6GB and HD6450. GOG games are just part of my setup. MaLa does the work for me. Bonus: No room for messy setup.

Nice! I've been dying to craft my own arcade setup for some time. Very cool :D

O.O you have lots of computers... Also, you're living room looks extremely cozy! By the way, in your first pic, right above the little TF101, is that some sort of docking station for a hard drive? I've been looking for something like that to get some files/media off of my gaming desktop which died of old age last year.

Well that is it... I'm going to have to clean my gaming station now. I want it looking like that! Thanks for the inspiration :D

Awesome! A pity that arcade emulation is so tricky though. I've only had some mild success with MAME I think, mostly because I wanted to check out Golden Axe's arcade version

Matewis: O.O you have lots of computers...
I tend to keep the old ones even if I buy new, at least with the laptops. After all, they take so little room. I keep them as long as they work.

In the retro picture, you may see there are two desktop PC towers below, but the one behind is the one I destroyed earlier by forcing RAM inside the wrong way. I should remember to check what to salvage from it (maybe the PSU and the graphics card), and recycle the rest. It is dead, Jim.

The secret is IKEA. Almost all the furniture in the living room picture, including the carpet, is bought as cheap as possible from IKEA. Those damn Swedes, being so cozy and all. I'm not much of a spender when it comes to furniture, cheap and practical is all I want.

I especially love that computer cupboard where I have my desktop, it is a damn shame IKEA isn't selling it anymore. It is very nice for keeping your computer stuff out of sight, if needed (like, say, in the living room).

It is this one, or similar to this:

https://www.verkkokauppa.com/fi/product/48273/dfdvn/Fuj-tech-Clone-Dock-USB-3-0-telakka-kahdelle-2-5-3-5-SATA-ki

I recommend it, it is great. In the photo I have a 3 terabyte 3.5" SATA hard drive sitting in it. You can put two SATA hard drives (either 2.5" or 3.5") into it at the same time, using only one USB port. You can also make a 1:1 copy of one hard drive to the other with a press of a button, without the device being even connected to a PC.

This is my setup. Nothing special. Apologies for the bad picture quality.
Home station as I found it this morning, and after I cleaned up and made enough room to actually use it.

Annie: the dog so nice I gotta show her twice!

You have floating walls? I don't see any plints.

Plints? You mean baseboards? That room is in the basement and doesn't have any. Don't ask me why....the panelling in the room is quite old and i don't know how it's fixed on the wall

Yes, something went wrong in translating from Dutch to English. What the Dutch call a 'plint' shouldn't be translated to 'plinth' I found out, as a plinth is the base of a column. I looked up 'baseboard' in the Oxford dictionary and found out it's a US saying for what is properly called a skirting board in English - but seeing you're from Germany, I should use my Dutch-German dictionary and get this: Wand- oder Fussleiste.

But as what's shown are panels on the wall instead of the wall, I understand the floating look. Is panelling walls a usual thing to do in Germany? I only know it from the seventies, when I was young. In the Netherlands the usual thing to do is paint or plaster the walls.

Actually i don't think it's a common thing nowadays but i think it looks quite nice in that room.

Fortunately, I don't live in a dusty town!  Have you ever tried to use dryer sheets (like Bounce) on your furniture?  They're supposed to be good dust repellents.

For some reason I expected to click a pic of a house adorned with dryer sheets - à la tinyE ;-)
Dust repellents can only do so much. It's a weekly ritual I have come to embrace.
