Looks interesting. What's also interesting is how many of these kind of games(see amrit9037's post above) come out at the moment. Unfortunately, I've seen none until now that doesn't feel empty and/or dull after the first few hours.

I could ask stupid questions now, but I'd rather leave it at:
I'll watch the further development of the game and hope that you guys and ladies know what you are doing.
The situation mentioned above surely is something you observed as well and it would be awesome for your game to be different in this regard.

... well... don't be shy Mr. Craneballs :)
passing

only have a Phenom II X4 955 BE processor
From the videos on your youtube channel the game looks interesting. :)

a few questions : 1. Would there be any proper storyline?
2. Would there be NPCs?
3. Will the planets harbour intelligent creatures with their own civilizations (or settlements)?
Will this be the NMS we all have been waiting for?
So, it's 3D, right?

If it is, AWESOME!!! Sounds like starbound with another dimension. I'm bound to fall in love.

Welcome to GOG tho, excited to see more from you and your team.

Ixamyakxim: Please GoG, for me, when this comes out have the bolded tagline be "Legos... in... SpaaaAaaaAaace."

Or do you get C&Ded if you say Legos?

anothername: As official channel? They most likely will. Lego IS a world wide known brand after all; not a general term like "connectable blocks".
Well, they literally have "Lego-style building with physics" in their game description :P

Craneballs: Hey folks,

anothername: Welcome to gog :)

Had my eyes on the game when it was first announced here. I see it has 3rd person view (yeay :) ), does it has a form of character creation, customization, male/female player characters?

Oh, do you name your character? NMS automatically names them after the account they are bought from which is kind of an immersion downer.

Is mod support planned?

While I'm at NMS; excuse the comparisons, but its kind of about exploring (multible planets?) with being big on procedual too; so what would you name as the 5 major distinct differences to NMS?
Also kinda interested in this, as let's just say that both games premises sound quite similiar...

Just hope this one is actually good, unlike No Man's Lie.
From the FAQ:

"We believe no other game combines the massive scale lego-style building with having a purpose and multiple environments to interact with the way Planet Nomads does."

My favorite thing about modded Minecraft was how creative building was mixed with functionality. Most games just focus on creative/aesthetic building, and Factorio focuses on functionality. It sounds like Planet Nomads might do both, and if it does then I'm sure I'll love it.
ok, back from a site check...

I WISH I COULD PREORDER, HOLY CRAP IT'S GOOD!!!
Cheers guys for everything. This place really has an amazing community.

So first of all, our team is currently 13 people big (also kinda familiar, I reckon). This should not be taken as an excuse, but more of a realistic gauge of how fast we are able to make things done, namely civilizations and NPCs and the storyline.

Now, character customization is planned - the underlying tech solution quite ready. As well as the female character.

Modding is definitely on the table - we have already started with building blocks (being able to create one's own, change properties like material cost, production time, model and name) as well as items. As we explore this realm more so can you expect more.

We view the sandbox portion of Planet Nomads in the ability to build things and modify the terrain to your liking.

The core element of the game (current build) is survival on the procedurally generated planet, food and water are the basics, then you get to fight (or run from) strange animals. You unlock ways to get that out of way (through technology), but that also opens up new locations, which are more interesting, yield next-level materials, but are also harder.

The ultimate goal would be to build a spaceship to leave the planet. And ultimately find out how did you get here in the first place and who you are. These are the work in progress parts. The first one unlocking the moment we figure out how to best approach flying vehicles.

Compared to that disappointing game, we like to think it's that game with things to do. And we also focus to have much livelier and more interesting planets - something that the multiple biomes on each planet help a lot.

Hope I covered everything so far :)

Very good read; I totally look forward to more info about your game :)

I'd still like to know if I can give my character a proper name though; got kind of burned with 2 games in a row going the account route :D

Honestly it never occurred to us :) So far we let people name the world they generate. Think it shouldn't be so hard to add character naming too. We'll see if other players join you with the request as we launch :)

A thematically fitting given name by story (i.e. Sheppard) or no name at all would work for me too. As long as it does not picks the forum account. Don't wanna start creating new accounts each for one game :D
There is one thing that puzzles me. When you visit multiple planets (in the final version) that are procedually created, how big will the save files get?
Currently I´m playing Starbound and after exploring a few planets my save file makes a third of the base games memory space. And Starbound is a 2D pixel game. So do we have to reckon with save game bloat?
