It really is a great game, I just can't stand it. :P I suffer the same problem falling in love with bona fide pieces of shit. I GOT PROBLEMS MAN! :P

I loved Fallout 3 and had a blast with it. Overall, I probably liked NV a bit better, but the two are close in my books and I like them slightly better than Fallout 1 and 2.

I seem to have an issue with Avellone's writing in the Fallout series, and that's weird. I loved Fallout 3 and 1, but didn't like NV and 2 (the 2nd one is the only Fallout I didn't bother to finish). Fallout 4 is a mixed bag, it's probably the worst Fallout, but it's still better than 2 in my view...

I got 4 as a gift at Christmas but have yet to fire it up. I can see why people may not like 2, as there is some goofy humor in it and I found some of the writing a bit... off. Still, I enjoyed it but not as much as 3 and NV.

It depends what you mean really... Is Breath of the Wild made by different people than the original Zelda or OoT? Miyamoto wasn't in charge, though I'm sure he was involved, and it's still made by Nintendo...

I can't really think of any games or series that fit the bill (certainly not ones that I actually enjoyed)...

War for the Overworld might count I suppose, I did enjoy that and it's not the same people who made the original Dungeon Keeper games (I think? It might actually be the same Devs in a new company now that I think about it...)

Interesting topic. If we're considering the original creators of the first game that put the series on the map then I can think of two:

- Most everything in the civilization series after the first game, excluding Civ VI which I haven't played yet. Though Sid Meier was involved with most(all?) to some degree.
- Command Conquer 3

I want to say Red Alert 2 as well, but Westwood Pacific was the developer so probably several Westwood Studios employees were involved in the production.

I love the new XCOM and I can't even play the old ones.
Skyrim is my favorite Elder Scrolls game.

Well, The Elder Scrolls has always been a Bethesda game, and the current game director (Todd Howard) has been the lead of the team since at least Morrowind ("project leader"). It's not as if the game was made by completely different people. I agree about XCOM, though, totally.
