Those enhanced editions from Beamdog? Oh yeah! That's the stuff! ; )

But seriously, I'm with timppu - I don't much keep track of who did what. From what little knowledge I do have of developer / publisher stuffs, I'll say:

Civilization series (mentioned earlier by Matewis)
Railroad Tycoon, from the original to 2 and 2 to 3, though I think all are pretty great.

Edit: er, I guess just original to 2. 2 and 3 were both PopTop

I really enjoy Bioshock 2, possibly more than the original or Infinite. I would have never known it was from a different development team if I hadn't read that it was.

The sequel (so I mean the third) was so poorly written. One of the worst scenario and narration I had to play among the games from developers that used to call them authors.
I really like Myth III: The Wolf Age - developed by Mumbo Jumbo while the first two were developed by Bungie.

I still don't understand why the last game is so hated. Sure, there were a lot of bugs at the initial release but most of them got fixed. Sure, there were some promises of additional features that never got released but the game is very solid and fits well in the series.
Thanks a lot guys for the good faith answers and please continue as long as you find examples that show how developers occasionally or even often take up a license because they just plain love it and are able to do it justice, maybe even bring it back on a previously long lost track.

I myself will take a little timeout because, in all honesty, the low rated OP really pisses me off to no end. Again, thanks to those who understand where the problem with categorical negativity in the game space lies. How you get all the shades of grey by mixing black and white, and how you get no shade of grey if you throw away the white.

I may get back to some of you on some of these topics later, in particular how the whole episodic clusterfuck started to make sense to me with Sam & Max Season 2 but saw its as of yet best application in Season 3 (arguably!). Oh, and what pure joy Final Fantasy Legend 3 brought me in 1995, when I finally got my hands on it.

Desmight: Fallout 3 is my favourite in the series

real.geizterfahr: Uh oh :O That's a pretty dangerous thing to say on GOG's forums.
Not anymore, as now the other games (except 4) are also on the GOG store. So now it is fine to like them too.

Ps. Skyrim sucks!... until it appears on GOG.com. :)
Myst III and IV:

Myst III was developed by Presto Studios (The Journeyman Project series) while Cyan was working on what would become Uru. While Myst III isn't as good as Riven, I think it's better than all of Cyan's post-Riven Myst games.

Myst IV was developed by one of Ubisoft's own teams as I believe Cyan was working on what would be called Myst V (more of a sequel to Uru than anything else). Again, although Myst IV was not as good as Riven, Myst or even Myst III - it was in my opinion better than Cyan's own efforts from the time.
Hi, I'm here for the dumpster fire, I have marshmallows and weenies. Is this the right thread?

Yeah, because it matters a lot :P

Seriously, wy do people still care about this? Ignore it. It's the only sane thing to do.
Is it a coincidence that Genesis was better with Phil Collins on vocals than Peter Gabriel, or was that supposed to be the obvious basis for the title of this topic?

That's a tough subject. I think of ACDC. As a band progresses their song writing naturally gets better. Brian Johnson isn't necessarily a better vocalist that Bon Scott, but their song writing was getting better and really began to hit it's stride with "Back In Black" which of course was the first record without Scott and with Johnson. The same can be said of Genesis. When Gabriel was the lead singer they were young, stupid, still trying to hone their craft. By the time Collins took the mike they were way better at song writing that with Peter.

You've clearly never heard of the band "Metallica" and their eighth album "St. Anger". A lot of words come into mind when I think of it. "Better" isn't one of them...

Okay, Metallica is the exception. :P

Same with the Rolling Stones after Mick Taylor was gone.

I think you mean Brian Jones.
