Tallima: That would defeat the purpose of the captcha. They don't want you to brute Force codes.

VanishedOne: As eiii said, in the Diablo newsletter only the size of the discount was hidden; the name of the game was in the e-mail. So the 'egg hunt' thing looks like a pure design choice.
Oh, right. I was thinking for a technical point of view. The email should tell you what's what.

This sorry if thing is supposed to gamify their marketing, but it can get annoying.

TheMonkofDestiny: I don't know if they need a tracking thread when it's such a small number of discounts to begin with, but there is a thread for them otherwise here.
I meant a more general thread which tracks all these hidden discount or hidden game marketing emails.

Of course it's all marketing "strategy". Otherwise they also could just tell you the actual discount they offer and not hide it behind several tracker links and a captcha mechanism. It's just an annoying waste of time. And as far as I remember, since the Beamdog $3 offers there wasn't a single offer which was worth the effort for me.

I wonder how many sales they 'strategically' lose to captcha fatigue.
If there was one thing they could improve when it comes to newsletter discounts, it would be stating the actual discount in the e-mail itself, thus avoiding having to go through the entire process just to see what the discount is. But they probably want to farm the clicks for some metrics I guess.

That being said, the process is not such a big hassle some make it out to be. A captcha should take you like 10 seconds if you are really slow.

New time-limited discount newsletter flew out.

80% off Darkest Dungeon (base game only). Puts the price at $5USD. If calculating price against hours of suffering endured while Wayne June narrates it all, I guess it's a good deal.
What do they mean by "All-time high discount - final time to buy!"?

Are they saying the game's being removed or that it's never going to be so cheap ever again?

I assume the latter, but not "never" again, just less likely to hit that price again. The game isn't going to be removed though - that's just reading too deep into it.

Also, final time might be clunky phrasing in regard to how long the discount timer runs.

That's a good point, thanks a lot :-)

Thanks for digging out the discount!

I had to climb into your avatar to borrow the shovel. My shoes are worse for the wear though.

Too bad it never got the Complete treatment. Without DLCs, I'm going to pass.

Red Hook has more DLC coming out for it in the near future, so a complete set would just turn out like the Neverwinter situation currently.

How about Iratus: Lord of the Dead instead of DD ?

...what about it?

If you're asking about it having a discount, I wouldn't know as it's one newsletter I didn't get if it did, in fact, happen to have one sent out recently as well.

Ah good to know, so I'll definitively wait for some more time.
