Melvinica: So Gog discriminates its customers by sending to some discount newsletters and not to others. Good to know.
If you're signed up for all newsletters, and apparently based on purchase history and/or what you've wishlisted, then you get these discount newsletters.

I mentioned on the previous page that I initially didn't get the Tropico discount newsletter, but apparently it got dispatched in a wave and I was not among the first group to get it.

I am signed up for all, and for example I had Pillars of Eternity: Definitive Edition on my wishlist but I did not receive the 80% off discount letter, or any discount letter ever.

The Pillars discount was dependent upon using the previous discount on Darkest Dungeon. I didn't have Pillars wishlisted, but I did make use of the Darkest Dungeon offer.

As to the rest - that is unfortunate.

swires86: Way too expensive, once again ...

GameRager: 7 bucks(or so) US is too expensive....really?

Well maybe compared to steam, who can afford to give games for pennies sometimes....but for some games that price is a steal(or decent enough).
For online keys of early 2000s games ... yes.

They may be old, but the games are worth the price.

Just because something is old, doesn't mean it's not worth paying a fair bit for.

Of course, I guess 7 bucks is at least reasonable to complain about....if only a bit.....i've seen some complain about games with 20+ hours of play time on sale for 2-3 dollars as being priced too high.

Not long ago I also did not get those newsletters everyone was talking about and I also was signed up already. I decided to undescribe and describe again and at least for me that helped. It's GOG so their tech is often broken. Be assured that it's most likely is NOT intended to treat customers different here.

Indeed.

It's also not helping matters when, like the Pillars discount, it was a "because you bought x from our last "special offer" we thought you'd really like this" situation.

GOG staff should really consider just making a separate tickbox on the subscription setting for "Special limited time discounts", so people who might feel like they're getting shafted for not wanting more "junk" in their inbox can at least not have to get blindfolded and throw a dart to tell which of the tickboxes that are there now gets them the content they actually want.

I haven't bought Darkest Dungeon but I still received the PoE offer. Both were on my wishlist though.

The only one I missed out on (I think) was Divinity Original Sin 2 - Eternal Edition, and it WAS NOT wishlisted by me at that time.

I had to fish the email out of my inbox just to be sure I was remembering things correctly or not. Turns out I wasn't. I don't know where I either actually saw or thought I saw "since you bought Darkest Dungeon, we've sent you this..." in it. That effectively torpedoes that and my faith in retaining memory of something that happened less than a week ago. :|

Do we have a thread about YouTube discounts?

I just found out Wizardry 8 is 90% off (until May 12th), if you click the link below this review:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_G0yeNCu5VU

The downside being that his followers have been posting memetic comments in the reviews section on the game page (and mostly marking them as helpful).

These seem to be much harder to track, especially if they're weird hybrid affiliate/partner generated discounts.

Yeah, it would be nigh impossible to keep track of all of them. I don't think anyone would expect them all to be included. :)
