I contacted them just a short time ago as well and got similar

""No problem, we have taken you down for a DRM-free physical copy. The boxed copy shipped to you will come with the Steam version, we will send the DRM-free copy as soon as we can. Also, this will not affect your ability to play the game day-one using a digital copy, so you won't need to wait any longer. Thanks for letting us know!"

Thank you,

inXile"

Does this mean ALL physical copies being sent out for launch are ALL Steam copies? (hence the DRM free physical disk being sent later)

Im actually confused now. I backed $100 tier and im supposed to get 1 x physical copy (now requested DRM free) + 2 x digital copies (wasteland 2 beta to revert back to a GOG key - gives me 2 digital copies).

Ok, so I'm kinda new here so please go easy on me. And I don't usually game on my computer because I don't really want to pay attention to what graphics cards are good/bad/whatnot.

I'm just wondering if anyone has any input if my 2014 13" Macbook Pro will be able to play this game. It's got a slightly better processor than required, way more than enough RAM (16 GBs), but yes, an integrated graphics "card" (chip?), an Intel Iris. And I just don't know enough about graphics cards to tell if my computer will play it (some one said my computer will play Battlefield 4 if that makes any difference).

I don't care if it is top quality, I'm the kind of person who tends to not notice low framerates (I can't even tell on Dragon's Dogma which I know has a bad rep for dropping framerates even if I don't notice and even though I can tell on my Vita's copy of Borderlands 2 it isn't bad enough to bug me too much) so as long as it is decently playable (as I said, I'm not super picky but I don't want a game that's going to be lagging so badly that I constantly am getting "beachballed" (or for windows users the hourglass) or where the game runs so slowly it's like watching a movie in slow motion).

Has anyone played it on a similar machine to be able to tell me if it might run ok?

Edit: Oops, I forgot it's only Steam that's allowing pre playing of it. Still, if anyone has opinions or maybe has played it via Steam I'd love to know (I posted here cause here is where I plan on buying it as I'd much rather use GoG over Steam anytime it's an option).

I have an Intel HD 4000 and I can play most of the new games out there at around 30fps. Your Intel Iris is not only more new than the Intel HD 4000, it is also more powerful. So the Intel Iris is not bad for graphics unless you are the kind of gamer who needs at least 60fps with max settings for all your games... About Wasteland 2, I can't help you because I have not purchased the game yet...

BUT you should go to Youtube time to time and type in intel iris wasteland 2 or intel hd 4000 wasteland 2. If you do this, you might come across a video in the future of someone playing the Wasteland 2 early access version with an Intel Iris or the Intel HD 4000. Then you can guess from there, what kind of performance you will get.

I also found this video on Youtube that might help you get an idea of how your Intel Iris will handle Wasteland 2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6DZsb4qOGw
This video(a review of the early access version of Wasteland 2) is showing you how the game runs with an Intel HD 3000. Compared to the Intel Iris, the Intel HD 3000 is a piece of a garbage. So if you are like that guy and don't mind low fps in games, you should have no problem with Wasteland 2.

Wasteland 2 is made with the Unity engine so you can also look at the list of games out right now that uses the Unity engine. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Unity_Engine_games Then you can search Youtube or google for information about the performance people are getting from those games with the Intel Iris(or Intel HD 4000).

Thank you, that was very helpful :) (and I'd welcome any other opinions as well).

And yeah, that looks pretty decent as to how well it runs (if it runs that well that would be fine and I just gotta decide if I have the money and if it is something worth paying that much for <- I'm on a tight budget so I really gotta make sure I really want the game before buying, especially if it's a "full price" one).

I requested the DRM-free physical disc as well.

One thing though.. Will they not patch the DRM-free disc version at all? The update sounded like the choice is Steam-disc or a day-1 version without further patches.

I will probably just use GOG, but the disc version should anyway be equal to all other versions.
Hello Guys,

i got a little problem. I accidentally backed Wasteland 2 two times... So I will get two GoG keys. I don't know what the game will cost but I think the normal version will be about 20$ (Thats the price is payed when i backed). If anybody is interestet in helping me, I would like to swap the GoG Code for a GoG-voucher for 20$ or if the game will be cheaper for the gog-price.

I hope that is ok for GoG but I dont see the difference if sombody pays 20$ for a voucher or for the game.

Please send me a pn if you want to help me.

Thanks!

To me it read like we'll be getting a day 1 version which we will have to manually upgrade.

I'm fine with manual patching but many devs just use Steam nowadays to cut the work of distributing different patches. inXile hasn't screwed up anything yet so I trust they patch it somehow :)

The price IMHO will be higher simple because it was kickstarted... many other KS projects were priced higher at launch...at least higher than the tiers durin the KS.

Only exceptions being wanker devs who undercut the basic tiers on launch like Strike Suit Zero did :/
I'll just wait for gog wl2 then since the retail boxes are bound with steam, but seeing the line "The boxed copy shipped to you will come with the Steam version," I'm concerned about physical copies for Tide of Numerana backers.

Would the physical copies also require a separate call, day 1 disc that is sent at a later date to be steam-free like wl2 does?

Would international buyers require to pay another extra shipping fee?

I've played the unpolished Beta on my 13" Windows laptop pretty heavily. The specs of mine are i7-3520M CPU (2.9GHz), 12GB Memory, Nvidia GT640M graphics card. I had the Anti-Aliasing turned off and all the other bells and whistles turned off, and it ran great at 1280x720. My laptops resolution was 1600x900 and I was able to run at that res, but it just got slow occasionally. I never tried fiddling with any of the settings, because I was happy enough with what I was doing.
However, that was on one of the earlier Betas before they added the California maps. So, it should be a lot more polished.

They sell a DRM and a DRM-free digital edition, so they already thought about it.
